A CONVERSATION CAN CHANGE A LIFE

R U OK? is an Australian, non-profit, suicide prevention organisation, founded in 2009.

Thursday 10 September 2020 is our national day of action, dedicated to reminding everyone that every day is the day to ask, 'Are you OK?' and to support those, of all ages, struggling with life's ups and downs. This year, more than ever, R U OK? is such an important question to ask...

Wind back to a year ago...I was wearing my R U OK? t-shirt on R U OK? Day and attended a meeting after work. I was approached by a stranger sitting nearby, who was so 'thankful' that I was wearing the t-shirt and sat down with me to have a conversation about her life struggles and how she was slowly starting to 'see the light at the end of the tunnel'. This very brave, strong lady held on to both my hands as she spoke and cried...what a poignant moment. What an effect of those 4 little letters...R U OK?...those 3 little words...will you reach out?

A CONVERSATION CAN CHANGE A LIFE

You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just be a good friend and a great listener.

Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:

  • Ask R U OK?
  • Listen
  • Encourage action
  • Check in

    5/6 YAUTIA!!!!!!

During ProjectNEST, Stage 3 students have been learning about the living and working conditions that different groups of people experienced during the Australian gold rush period. Students have had the opportunity to research and demonstrate their learning through mini-outcomes, such as: creating a character profile of someone living during that time and composing a series of accompanying diary entries, as well as creating 3D box construction models of scenes from the time.
