Last year CVPS was lucky enough to win a grant from the NSW Teacher's Federation for $363. We purchased native trees and shrubs and have now planted these into our gardens. Our school's Garden Club was very excited to spot these new plants in the gardens. We are busy working with P&C, parents and the GA's to continue to beautify our gardens. We also hope to teach our students about sustainability. Thank you to everyone involved and many thanks to the Teacher's Federation for helping us achieve our goals.

Year 6 Camp is on next week. Monday 25 March- Wednesday 27 March. Please ensure that your child arrives by 8:20am at the school hall. Please ensure you pick up your child no later than 3pm on Wednesday. Check SkoolBag app for updates, in case we are running late.
Interviews will be held during week 10 and week 11 this term (1-12 April).
This week, CVPS hosted a CRAZY HAIR DAY as part of The World's Greatest Shave. Mr Papas bravely shaved his head in front of students and parents at the morning assembly. His luscious locks are now long gone and will be donated to create a wig for a person fighting blood cancer. From mohawks to wild wigs, students and teachers across the grades came to school in an array of wacky hair styles. At recess, Ms Riley and Miss Falcone put their hair colouring skills into action by colouring students' hair for a gold coin donation. The playground was littered with hundreds of multi-coloured heads. The donations have not been calculated to an exact amount but Mr Papas estimates the fundraising will be well over $4000! The enthusiasm across the school was excellent to see. A big thank you to all parents, students and teachers who donated to this fantastic cause.
BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Year 4, 5 and 6
All students in year 4, 5 and 6 have received notes regarding BYOD. Please make sure a permission note has been returned to the teacher before bringing in a device. Make sure your device has a protective cover with your name and class attached. Spare BYOD notes can be collected at the office.

This year CVPS will move to online testing for NAPLAN. A NAPLAN Online practice test will be held during week 9 (25-29 March) for years 3 and 5. This will involve one 45-minute practice test on a computer. The results are not collected. This will give staff and students the opportunity to practise the test on a computer in preparation for NAPLAN in Term 2. Students are asked to bring in a cheap pair of headphones/earphones to use in class. An information sheet about NAPLAN is attached.

During week 8 students in Year 4-6 will complete the Tell Them From Me survey. This short survey helps the school to identify areas of growth and need across many aspects of your child's learning. The results will improve your child's educational experiences at CVPS.
