Term 3 Week 5 Newsletter - Friday 19 August 2022

PRINCIPAL’S THOUGHTS

Messages from Mr Dill

Happy Friday!

Thank you to everyone across the school community for playing a part in big and smaller ways to bring together the upcoming 2022 Spring Carnival (formally known as the Spring Fete).  Related to this, the response to the Friday mufti days to promote the carnival has been wonderful with parents, grandparents and friends generously supporting the school and students loving the opportunity to enjoy wearing casual dress.

In assemblies, I speak of the 3 reasons why children come to school i.e., to learn, to make friends and to have fun! The Spring Carnival is a special opportunity in the school calendar to have fun especially as a family and I encourage you to support the carnival in any way you can. In a complex world, let's give the kids a reason to want to grow up!

Tournament of the Minds

Good luck to our Tournament of the Minds teams who will present at the Sydney North Regional Finals at Waitara PS next Sunday.

Family Law

Sadly sometimes relationships break down and a court makes orders that change the contact parents can have with their children or the role they play in making decisions about their children’s education. These can be Family Court Orders or Apprehended Violence Orders.Parents can also reach agreement about issues such as contact in a parenting plan.

If this happens it is important that you provide the school with a copy of any court orders or plan that could impact on your child’s education.

In the absence of any notification to the contrary, the school will assume that both parents continue to retain a shared and equal parental responsibility for their children and should be involved in making any decisions regarding their children’s education.

This means that the school will recognise that each parent has equal duties, obligations, responsibilities and opportunities in relation to matters involving the school.

If any changes occur in your family relationships which have the potential to impact on the relationship between the school and your family, please advise the school immediately and provide a copy of any court orders that may be obtained. These orders will be stored securely and only accessed by staff who need to see them in order to plan for your children’s learning and support and related issues.

Tell Them From Me Student Feedback Survey

This term students in years 4-6 will be taking part in the second 'Tell Them From Me' student survey. The survey will provide us with valuable feedback on what our students think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary. Your child will not take part if either you or your child do not wish too. If, during the survey, your child is uncomfortable, he/she can choose to stop the survey at any time. The majority of questions in the survey can be skipped if needed.

More information about the survey is available at:

education.nsw.gov.au/ttfm

If you do not want your child to take part in the survey, please complete the attached form and return it to school by 29th August, 2022.

Final Mufti Day - Tombola Jars

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Spring Carnival through personal donations and gold coins over the last two mufti days.

Each cash donation has been allocated to the student's classes, with the class raising the most money receiving a pizza party from Crust Pizzas.

Remember next Friday, 26 August, will be a mufti day to support the Tombola jar stall.  Please start saving your glass jars to decorate and fill with lollies!
