Dear Parents and Carers,

It was wonderful to have our Grandparents visit us last Monday. Thank you to the Parents & Friends for organising the morning tea and the teachers for preparing the activities.

Our inaugural Halloween "Car Boot Tick or Treat" was a resounding success despite the weather. Laura and Mark Gramms had the winning car boot and lots of children received Rebecca's Café Gift Vouchers for their very scary costumes. Well done to Rhea Thomas and her parent group for their faith in the event and hard work under difficult circumstances.

An Occupancy Inspection took place for the new building this week so fingers crossed hand over will take place by the end of next week.

Please consider nominating a parent to join our School Advisory Council for 2023. We have 2-3 positions vacant. The AGM will be held on Tuesday December 6th.

Our School Advisory Council Needs New Members

How our School Governance works

Under our DOBCEL Governance model the role of the local School Advisory Council is to:

assist with stewardship of the Catholic vision, ethos and culture of the school
provide strategic advice and support to the principal on matters relating to school operations and ongoing improvement
fairly represent the views and needs of the school community
assist with promoting the school and Catholic education generally in the local community
have what is best for the students at the heart of all advice it offers.

As outlined in the DOBCEL Governance Guidelines, SAC members do not have any financial or non-financial decision-making powers.

The School Advisory Council is intended to:

provide a voice for members of the school community
actively support, in collaboration with the local parish, the Vision and Catholic Identity of the School
provide input into and support for the strategic planning and directions
actively support and promote child safety practices including the National safeguarding principles for Child Safe Organisations
provide input and contribute advice in the processes of school improvement and school review
support the Principal in meeting his/her responsibilities and accountabilities for educational outcomes, effective stewardship of resources, and annual reporting
actively support the Principal in the encouragement of family engagement
support the ongoing sustainability of the SAC and its members in its succession and learning.

Ongoing members of our School Advisory Council include Mrs. Olga Lyons as our School Principal, the Deputy Principal, a teacher representative, a Parents & Friends representative and parents elected by the parent community.

Each member serves a two-year term with the limit of two consecutive terms, being a maximum of four years. There are 6 meetings for the year.

At the end of this school year 2 of our members will finish their tenure and we are seeking expressions of interest from our parent community to fill these vacancies to commence in 2023.

If you are interested in joining the School Advisory Council please email the Principal on principal@spportfairy.catholic.edu.au stating your current role and interests, and what you believe you could bring to this committee. If you have any questions and would like to discuss this first you may call Olga for an informal chat first.

New SAC members will be invited to attend the AGM on December 6th.

Fr. Bill Lowry will be celebrating mass in the Port Fairy cemetery on Thursday 5.30pm for those who would like to pray for the departed loved ones.

World Kindness Day

On Monday November 14 we will be celebrating World KINDNESS Day. The children will work through a number of wellbeing kindness related activities in house groups. Our senior student leaders will be presenting their Anti-Bullying projects. All students can wear casual clothes on this day.

School Fees and Levies

With only 6 weeks of the 2022 school year remaining it would be greatly appreciated if school fees and levies could be finalised as soon as possible. For families who have committed to regular instalments, please continue with your payment plan as per your arrangements.

Ringing families as a reminder to pay fees is not only embarrassing and uncomfortable to you but also to the admin staff. Please contact the school office to organise a payment plan should you wish to set one up. Thank you.

WANTED - SHIPPING CONTAINER

We have need of a shipping container for storage purposes. If anyone has a second one they no longer need or knows who does, please get in contact with the school office.
