St John the Baptist Ferntree Gully Newsletter

Letter from the Principal

Tuesday November 17th 2020

Dear Families

2021 is looking to be a great year at St John the Baptist. Our enrolments have increased once again with 25 Year 6s exiting the school at the end of this year and 44 Preps joining our community. This is a very healthy enrolment position to be in. Our class structure for the 2021 school year will be as follows:

2 x Prep

3 x 1/2

2 x 3/4

2 x 5/6

We are very fortunate that we have all our current staff returning to our school next year.

With our increase in numbers we are also welcoming back Mrs Emily Johnston from maternity leave. Emily will be returning to us in a part time capacity.

We are also welcoming a new staff member to our team. It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you Mrs Shari Corralje. Shari has many years of teaching experience across all primary school classes. Shari is a mother of two daughters, Piper and Willow and is married to her husband Evan. Shari has a great capacity for seeing the good in all. She brings a positive energy and enthusiasm that will greatly support the children she will be teaching to have a successful school year. Shari loves teaching and being with children. She is a huge loss to her current school and wonderful gain for our school. Her content knowledge is excellent and her professionalism and strong work ethic will be a great asset to our school. Welcome Shari!

All children will get to meet their next year's teacher and class on Monday 14th December.

Parents and Friends Annual General Meeting

It has been a very different year for our Parents and Friends. Despite our inability to gather for most of the year our President Ange and Secretary Fleur have quietly been supporting our community in the background. Both the roles of President and Secretary are due to changeover at the end of this year. Ange and Fleur have kindly offered to extend their commitment to their role for another year. If there is a parent in our community who would like to nominate for these positions Ange and Fleur would be more than happy to step down. Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 23rd November at 7.00pm. We will host the meeting at school outside under the sheltered area. All welcome!

Staff Professional Development Day

Just a reminder there is no school for the children tomorrow as the staff will be involved in a staff professional development day. We will be planning for the 2021 school year.
