Holy Trinity Primary Granville

Term 1 Week 4 - 21st February 2020

From the Leadership Team

Philip Mahony | Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Prayers from Trinity Primary, Portishead, United Kingdom

Last week we received a booklet of Prayers from Trinity Primary School, Portishead North Somerset UK.

The children there were very concerned over the devastation of the bushfires and the loss of so many native animals. It was very touching to know that these young children, halfway around the world, were offering up prayers for those affected by the bushfires here in Australia.

The students of Holy Trinity will be writing letters back to Trinity Primary to say thank you and start up a regular dialogue with the children.

Last week's Bushfire appeal mufti day raised over $380. Thank you for your support and generosity.

Kinder BBQ and Disco

The new Kindergarten children and their families enjoyed a great evening at the Kindergarten BBQ and Disco last week. The children and many parents and teachers danced the night away. I am sure the kinder children and their families feel part of our great community of Holy Trinity.

Parent Information Open Classrooms

Thank you to those many parents who were able to come in and have a look at the classrooms with their children and then share their hopes with the teachers.

We hope the more informal approach gave you a better opportunity to meet with your child’s class teacher. If you could not attend last week, you are still very welcome to meet with the teachers, please make an appointment through the office.

PBS4L - Positive Behaviour Support For Learning:

To create a positive school environment centred on learning, all classes at Holy Trinity have been completing a set of lessons to help each child achieve their best.

These lessons include:

  • We listen and respond to others. We follow instructions.
  • We keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
  • We respect the personal space of others.
  • We care about the wellbeing of ourselves and others.
  • We strive to do our personal best.
  • We can take learning risks. We are problem solvers.
  • We are in the right place at the right time.
  • We move from place to place calmly.
  • We take care of property.  We keep our school clean.

Shrove Tuesday 25th February:     On Tuesday we will be making pancakes for the children to mark Shrove Tuesday. This day traditionally was for people to clear out their cupboards before fasting during Lent. Often any leftover flour was used to make pancakes. We thank our wonderful parents,  Mrs Bou-Francis, Mrs Batistic, Mrs El-Hajj and Mrs Shamaa, who have offered to assist on the day.

Lent:     Lent begins next week with Ash Wednesday. On this day the children will receive a special cross of ashes on their foreheads which are made from the burnt palms we receive at mass on Palm Sunday. Parents are most welcome to join our Ash Wednesday Liturgy on the 26th February at 9:15am. During the six weeks of Lent, Catholics take part in penance and fasting, prayer and giving to the poor in preparation for Easter.

During Lent we will again be taking part in the Project Compassion appeal which reaches out to people across the world who need our help.

Year 1 and 2    -    Wednesday and Friday

Ordering Lunch from Canteen

The school canteen is open on each day of the week.  The canteen is open from 8.30am to receive orders and sell breakfast foods.

To order lunch from the canteen you should write the order on the front of a large paper bag with the child’s name and class and the amount of money enclosed. If you are unable to place the correct amount of money in the bag, change will then be given to your child.

Or email Leila at:    orders@healthyharvestcanteen.com.au

The children place their lunch order bags in the tub in the classroom at the beginning of the day which is then sent done to the canteen.

Measles Information

No Hat, No Play

At Holy Trinity there is a strict “No Hat No Play” rule.

Please ensure that your child always wears their hat to school each day.

We only have a limited number of second-hand hats that can be borrowed.

Both the school bucket hat and the wide brim hat are available to purchase from OZ Fashions, 115-127 Parramatta Road, Granville.

Please ensure your child’s name is written in permanent marker inside the hat.

Student Banking

We offer student banking our school. A school banking envelope was sent home last week with details. There is no obligation to bank.

A Youthsaver account is needed.

If you would like your child to participate, or to find out more information, please visit:

                                              commbank.com.au/school/banking

Student Banking is to brought into school on FRIDAY if you would like your child to bank.

Notice required before moving students from school

10 school weeks in writing must be given to the principal before removal of a student or a full term’s fees will be payable.

This requirement is in recognition by the family of the commitment to assist funding of the School by having their child take a place that could have been offered to another family.
