Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Return to Face to Face Learning 3 -6

With the return to face to face learning for our year 3-6 students occurring Tuesday 9 June, we’re looking forward to finally having all students back onsite and in classrooms.

School Drop-Off Year 3-6 Students

We are trying to keep the number of adults on the school site to a minimum for the remainder of the term.  If you are able to drop your children to school without entering the school grounds that would be very helpful.  Students need to go to their classroom door between 8:50am and 9:00am.  All school staff will be outside supporting children and families to get to the correct door on Tuesday morning to help us develop a safe and smooth return.  There is a map below to show you where your child needs to line up and enter the main building.  No parents or carers will be allowed in the main building other than in the front office.  If you do need to come onto the school site in the morning or for pick-up please ensure you are social distancing and avoid staying onsite longer than you need to.

Outside School Hours Care

I am happy to report that our before and after school care service is open.  Our numbers are steadily growing and to support us to have the correct amount of staff onsite please confirm your booking with Vicki prior to sending your child to the service.  You can do this by emailing Vicki at

2021 Enrolment teleconference tours

I will be running school tours via teleconferencing from now until the end of term two.  If you are aware of prospective parents in the local area, please let them know about this opportunity.  The tours are a chance to chat privately with me and ask any questions.  I will share a presentation highlighting the key features of our education program, the facilities and our beautiful grounds.  Tours can be booked in by calling the front office on 03 5426 1518 or emailing

Updated Website

Our website has been updated over recent weeks. We are continually adding information to the website including forms and other important information. Please take a look and tell us what you think.

Warm regards,

Matthew Forrest

Important Dates to Remember

  • 8 June - Queens Birthday public holiday - NO STUDENTS
  • 26 June - LAST DAY OF TERM 2
  • 13 July - FIRST DAY OF TERM 3

From the Office

Parents collecting students early / late arrivals

To minimise adult traffic within the school, if your child needs to leave school early or arrives late, parents need to sign them in and/or out at the office.  If you need to collect your child early, can you please contact the office and we will then arrange for your child to be ready for collection from the office.

Return of digital devices - please bring to the office.

Can parents please make sure that when you return digital devices to the office that the chargers are included. We are missing numerous iPad chargers that will need to be replaced at a cost to the school, and in the meantime, we are unable to charge all the iPads in a timely manner.

Drink bottles - please remember to bring to school

The drink bubblers have been turned off in the school due to COVID-19, therefore all students must bring their own drink bottles from home. Can you please make sure the drink bottles are clearly labelled with your child's name.

Limited uniform available on QKR!

We have a limited amount of uniform available on QKR! including some warm tracksuit pants at a special price of $10.  For a full range of Macedon Primary uniform, please visit the Beleza store in Gisborne or visit their online store.

Student Achievement Awards - this week

Working at school and at home

Talent Show!

All entries will need to be submitted in digital form. They must be clearly marked with age group, name and category in which you are competing. This can be done via Seesaw, email or USB dropped to school. This competition will remain a digital one.

Please have your entry in by close of business, the last day of term 2 (Friday June 26).

Drama can come in many forms, you can create and perform something yourself, or you could choose a piece of work. Some ideas include; a play, a story from a book, a poem, monologue or a duologue (one person acting alone on stage or two together). This will depend on how many people you have in your family. You may have enough for a whole play? Don’t forget the work we have done this semester on how to use your voice to create a character.

Dance is a fun one. It is such a free way to express yourself. You have the choice to either create something and perform it, or choose something that has already been choreographed. Perhaps you know ballet and would like to showcase what you can do?

Think also about the dances we did in Term 1. You could always film yourself doing one of those. I will also allow circus skills in this area of the competition.

Remember, these are just ideas, you can be as creative as you want!

For all of our musicians out there, this one's for you. Have you been dying to show us a hidden talent? Now is your chance. If you play an instrument you might want to record yourself doing a solo. If you have someone to jam with….. go ahead.

Perhaps you’ve written a song and you finally have a chance to show someone. Or…. Maybe you love singing covers (someone else’s songs), that’s fine too!

Multi Media

There are so many of you that have computer and technology skills that I could only dream of. This particular category is open to all kinds of ideas - as long as you use multi-media. As the name implies, multimedia using multiple forms of media. This could include; text, graphics, audio, video, etc. For example, a presentation involving audio and video clips would be considered a "multimedia presentation."

Maybe you have directed your own short film or film clip? Now is your chance to show it. It could be as simple as a PowerPoint presentation.

Script Writing

Do you prefer to be behind the camera instead of in front? Script writing is a great way to get your creative juices flowing. You could choose to write a traditional play or perhaps a monologue of duologue?

Who knows, if it’s good enough, we might want to use it in class!

If you are in P-2, one to two pages is enough. Older students and beyond, write as much as you want - this could be in the form of a narrative story.

These are just ideas, feel free to be creative and come up with something totally unique!

Remember everyone, whatever category you wish to present, must be G rated and family friendly.

Library News

Thank you to our local member of State Parliment, Mary-Ann Thomas for the donation of two library books. One, a picture book called 'Tiny Star' and the other 'How to Save the Whole Planet' for older students. These are welcome additions to our library. Speaking of the library, our Education Support Staff, Mrs Anderson, Ms Harrison and Mrs Fitzgerald have been busy tidying and sorting the library so it is spick and span. We have some new processes in place for borrowing and returning your books which your teacher will explain.

Music Foundations

Dear Parents,

As students begin the transition back to onsite lessons many are keen to start their keyboard lessons again as well.

Unfortunately the Department of Education has ruled that instrumental teachers cannot return to onsite face to face lessons until term 3.

This means that all students who took up online/Zoom lessons during term 2 will continue to receive their lessons online until the end of term 2.

For those  who wish to return to their keyboard lessons at school in Term 3, please either call Music Foundations on

0404 469 220 or  email

We really hope to see you all back at a keyboard very soon.
