School Office Hours of Operation

Our school office hours are 8:30am to 3:15pm.

EFTPOS Payments can be made between 8:45am - 9:00am and 2:30pm - 3:00pm.

Student Absences

The Education Act requires that a reason is provided to the school within 5 days of the occurrence of a student absence.

If your child is absent from school please notify us via Skoolbag or drop a note/medical certificate in our secure letterbox on the outside of the office wall. Do not send absent notifications to the class teacher via Class Dojo.

Late Arrival/ Early Departure

All students who are late to school must come via the office to receive a late pass, which is then to be handed to their teacher.

If you are picking up your child early from school you must visit the office first to receive an early departure pass, which you then give to your child’s teacher.

 Toileting Accidents

If your child is prone to toileting accidents please ensure that spare underwear and school clothes are kept in their bags.

If your child does borrow clothes from our school please ensure the clothes are washed and promptly returned to the office.

Nut Free Recommendation

Due to severe allergies of some students at Hammondville Public School, we do recommend that parents not send their children to school with nut products, eg muesli bars, peanut butter, nutella etc.

P&C Payments

All payments to the P&C must be CASH ONLY and in a separate envelope to school payments.

Partners In Learning Parent Survey

This Term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement.

Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school's support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements.

The survey is conducted entirely online on smartphones, iPads, tablets, laptops or computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey will be conducted between 2nd September and 25th October. Although participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated.

Information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au.

To access the survey for our school go to: http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/70hm

We have also included a FAQ sheet in today’s newsletter regarding the parent survey.

The survey is available in 23 languages.

Kindergarten Enrolments 2020

If you have a younger child who is due to start school next year and you have not yet enrolled them could you please contact the office as soon as possible. The sooner we know the number of children who are coming next year the better it is for our planning as the number of children in Kindergarten has a significant effect on the make-up of our classes and staffing across the school. Our information night for the parents of 2019 Kindergarten students is Monday 23rd September at 7pm in the school hall.

Enrolment Changes For 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Our school has increased enrolments to the point where we are reaching or exceeding a capacity to accommodate our students in permanent classrooms. The revised Department of Education Enrolment Policy implemented as of 22 July 2019, will have an impact on the manner in which we process non-local enrolments over coming years.

All students who reside within our local intake area will continue to be offered places at our school, however non-local enrolment applications can only be considered by schools that can accommodate new enrolments below their designated enrolment buffer level. A buffer is calculated by our school to allow the enrolment of local students who arrive throughout the year.

The impact of this requirement is that our school may not be able to enrol non-local students from 2020. To assist with the transition to this new requirement it has been agreed that non-local siblings of current students will be permitted to enrol in 2020.

As from 2021 the school may only be able to enrol local students.

The school will continue to have a non-local application process in place to prioritise any applications that may be considered exceptional circumstances or for any places that may become available if the school enrolment falls below the designated cap.

Please contact me if you wish to discuss these changes further.

This week our lesson focus for the whole school is to “Be A Learner: Follow the rules of the game and take turns.” Please discuss with your child the importance of talking about the rules of the game before beginning their play and taking turns as the game is taking place. Discuss strategies that they can do if the rules of the game become confused or others are not following the rules.

Code Camp Spring School Holidays

Code Camp Spring School Holidays: These Spring holidays Code Camp are returning to Hammondville Public School to teach your child to code, or to help them continue on their coding adventure! Code Camp has already taught more than 50,000 students in Australia and is a great way to spend time over the holidays as kids have lots of fun with friends while learning important new skills including logic, creativity, problem-solving, app development and game building. It’s fun and engaging, and gets them prepared to take on the digital world of the future. This season from Wednesday the 2nd- Friday the 4th of October, Hammondville Public School will be hosting Spark and 2D Game Makers. The cost is $350 for 3 days.

  • Spark Grades 2-6, New Students : Fun, engaging and challenging… and are our most known Code Camp that over 25,000 students have completed. Code Camp Spark is where every student in years 2-6 should start their Code Camp journey.
  • 2D Game Makers Grades 2-6, Returning Students: The next step in your child's game-making and coding journey. Your child will confidently learn the code and logic to create flashing gems, invisibility cloaks, spinning platforms, mini-games, bouncing clouds, shrinking potions and so much more! We asked 10,000 Spark kids what they'd love to create next, and then put our creative team to the task of bringing this to life as a brand new course. Mission accomplished. But we also added more logic, more code, more problem solving... and introduced JavaScript, the language of the web!

Premier's Sporting Challenge

This term, our school will be participating in the NSW Premier's Sporting Challenge which is a 10 week challenge for students. Award levels for the 10 week challenge reflect a daily activity time commitment. Students aged 5-18 should accumulate at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity every day, which in the challenge equates to a gold award. Activities may include time spent in a broad range of sports and recreational pursuits during lunchtime, in school sport programs, class time, before or after school and on weekends.

Students in Years 3-6 received a logbook at the beginning of the term and they use this to record their weekly physical activity. At the end of the term students in 3-6 will be asked to hand in their log book if they achieve a Diamond level.

Students in K-2 do not receive log books for record keeping but receive a Gold award at the end of the challenge. Children should be encouraged throughout the challenge to be active daily and establish healthy habits. Students in K-2 received a fridge magnet at the beginning of the challenge.

Award Level - Daily Activity Time
