Digital Correspondence
This year as a school we are aiming to be more technologically savvy. All correspondence will be sent out digitally via email, the Skoolbag app and our school website. The parent handbook has been updated and is located on the website. Within this section you will find all the relevant information about the school, the contributions and charges outline, and the new canteen menu. The school newsletter will also be developed digitally this year using the newsletter template through the website and Skoolbag software. The newsletter will continue to be uploaded each fortnight. A brief demonstration on how to navigate our website will be provided at the first P&C meeting for the year. This will be held on Wednesday 20th February. If you are still wanting to receive a paper version of our outgoing documents, please let myself or Janine know as soon as you can.
Seesaw
This year we are continuing to use Seesaw to share and communicate with families! Your child will post to Seesaw to share their learning. We are also using Seesaw to promote the 5 Tribe’s agreements, particularly Appreciations. A new class has been created this year to allow for all of the students to be in the one class. This will then provide opportunities for students to share work with their peers from all classes and to share appreciations with each other. The classes from last year will remain open but it is unlikely students will post their work in this account. As a new class has been set up all parents will be required to set up each child within their current account. This will mean that you will have duplicate students in your account; however, each one will refer to the different year level – i.e. one for 2018 and one for 2019. If you need support with this, please come and see me at the school. An email was sent out to all families last week with the links and information required to set up the new class in your account. If you did not receive this email or need it to be sent out again, please let me know and I will forward it on to you.
Enrolment Permission Slip and Acceptable Usage Agreements
A huge thank you to all the families who have returned the permission slips and Acceptable Usage Agreement that was sent home last week. If you are still completing the form can I please ask that they be returned by this Friday (15th February).
Parent Communication, Concerns or Questions
All staff are available and on hand to answer any of your questions and provide information should you have any concerns. If you would like to check in on your child’s progress or have a general conversation with your child’s classroom teacher, please arrange a convenient time with them outside of their teaching time. We believe in an open door policy here at Salmon Gums and welcome you all to come in and see us for any reason.
Strategic Planning workshops
This year we will be redeveloping our new strategic plan, and parent and community involvement in this process is vital to ensure we all share common goals for the future of the school. Various workshops will need to take place throughout the year to identify the school vision, core values and school priority areas. More information will come regarding the time, place and agenda focus for each of the workshops. A survey monkey will be sent out to all families this week asking for feedback on appropriate times and days. It is difficult to organise a time appropriate for all; however, the more feedback we receive will make this all the more possible. I look forward to embarking on this journey with you all.
Remember to keep yourself updated with the happenings of the school by checking your email, Skoolbag app and the school website.
