WAVES Program

Unfortunately the WAVES Program was again cancelled yesterday due to the weather.  Hopefully the weather next week will be better and we can try to complete the program objectives.

Students are undertaking structured activities at Forsters Beach to improve their fitness and to understand safe play while gaining knowledge of the risks and benefits of the ocean.

This Week's Award Winners

Principal’s Column

Hello, Giinagay, Hai,

Adopt a School – Dundurrabin at Scotts Head next Tuesday

As a partner school through the “Adopt a School” program we are going to support the school community of Dundurrabin PS. We will be hosting the students and their families for an overnight camp next (Week 8) on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 March.

Please come down to the Christian Youth camp at Scotts Head next Tuesday evening and join in for a BBQ with the students and their families between 5.30 and 7.00pm. Please bring meat, salad, drinks, chairs and blankets to sit on.

Scotts Head PS Parents and Community

The Scotts Head School P&C is an engaged, approachable and friendly group of parents, carers and teachers who work to enhance our children's educational experience.

The P&C is also an invaluable resource for parents providing opportunities to understand the school's needs and priorities, to work with and get to know the teachers and staff, and to share our school experiences as parents and carers. We are always looking for ways in which parents and carers can contribute to the school using their existing skills and expertise.

We welcome new parents and carers at any time of the year. We truly feel that everyone in the SHPS community has something to contribute, a valid view of our education system and we feel all contributions are valuable.

Meetings

The SHPS P&C usually holds meetings in week 3 and week 7 of each term in the school library at 3.15 pm.

Quote of the Day

Knowledge is power.

Information is liberating.

Education is the promise of progress in every society, in every family.

Thank you to the 2019 P and C

A BIG Thank you

Thank you to Blaze Aid

A massive thank you to Chris and the Blaze Aid crew for their generous donation of juice, water and poppers to our school. All food supplies were donated to the Blaze Aid basecamp in Macksville by the Lions Group. Due to having an excess of supplies, they are reaching out with donations to evacuation centres, community groups and schools in the valley. Blaze Aid has been set up in Macksville since November 2019, helping families rebuild fences after the fires. Blaze Aid has been helping communities rebuild after natural disasters since 2009 and currently have basecamps across Australia. What an amazing initiative!

If you’d like to know more about Blaze Aid, make a donation, volunteer, or see what they are up to at the moment, go to their website blazeaid.com.au

Year 7 Transition Visit from Macksville High School

On Wednesday 3 March, our year 7 adviser, Mr Boatfield and some year twelves came to our class to talk to us about high school.  It was exciting to see Ruby Peachman and Solomon Hill who were past students of Scotts Head Public School. The Principal Ms Erica Lyne and another transition advisor Melissa Robertson also attended. We asked a lot of questions about high school.

They told us about high school and what it was like. Our year adviser Mr Boatfield told us about the special events and how we got to choose what subjects we did.  They also told us about the colour run and different classes we would take. We can’t wait to go to the transition day in term 2.
