Principal's Message

Can’t believe we are nearing the end of Term 1!

I am sure that many of you are looking forward to having two weeks off and mask free!  I know the staff are ready for a bit of no school, no COVID downtime.

The Swimming Carnival went off extremely well, while it was a shame that we could not have any spectators, the ‘student crowd’ made up for it with lots of cheering on their mates and teams! Such wonderful sportsmanship and team effort was seen by all. Very big thank you to Mr Marshall for organising this and all the teachers who took on the many and varied roles to ensure the day was a huge success.

We have a very busy last week coming up with Interschool swimming, P & C Easter Raffle and ANZAC ceremony (Please see Mr J’s info).

Big thank you to the P & C for organising the Easter Raffle this year, they have worked around COVID restrictions to ensure this very popular event goes ahead.

We are so excited to let you know that the Adventure Play Space is beginning over the holidays!  We have a start date of the 16th of April!

This space is designed for ages PP – Year 6 and provides children with a ‘Ninja style course’ where they can move from one item to the next. The design also incorporates our Aboriginal Season Poles that the children designed and painted last term. This area also creates a wonderful outdoor classroom and learning opportunities for all ages. Massive thank you to the Focus Team; Benita Di Giovanni, Jemma Weidinger, Sally Garrity, Melinda Cockerill and Barb Greyling for all the time and effort they have given to this project and to the P & C for their amazing financial support, genuinely a community effort. Click on this link to see the revamped design what is going into this space.

Just a friendly reminder to ensure your child has their mask every day. We don’t have extra supplies of children’s masks. The school may need to contact you to provide your child with a mask so that they can enter the school/classroom.

We have begun taking Kindergarten enrolments for 2023. Please go to our website and complete the enrolment forms and then bring them into the administration for the documents to be sighted. If you have any questions, please contact the Admin office on 9253 9450.

School Board Updates

Hi School Community,

On behalf of the Churchlands Primary School Board, I’d like to give you all an update on recent Board news.

Firstly, the Board would like to acknowledge and commend the CPS teachers and executive on the fantastic way they are managing the ever changing COVID-19 situation. The dedication of our teachers to provide learning and support to students at home, as well as adapting at short notice to COVID enforced changes is outstanding. The school executive must also be commended on the priority they have placed on staff and student wellbeing during this challenging period.

Over the next few months, three parent board positions will become available as the current terms expire. There will be one position available at the end of Term 2 with Shane Lavagna-Slater finishing a three-year term, one position available at the end of Term 3 with Rebecca Brown finishing a two-year term, and my position available during Term 4 with my three-year term concluding. The School Board will call for nominations shortly and if required, elections will take place. Should anyone need more information please contact me via my details below. They are also on the CPS website.

The Board has recently approved a new Mobile Phone/Smart Watch Use Policy for students and reviewed the latest BYOD iPad guidelines. These policies and guidelines are available to the community via the school website. The Board has also noted the School 2022 Funding Agreement.

Finally, the Board would like to thank the school and P&C for the collaborative approach they are taking to communications. As a result of this shared vision, 97% of our families now receive P&C updates which is a significant increase from last year.

Enjoy the upcoming holidays and stay well.

 Regards,

Nick Payne
