Term 2 - Week 5

Attendance

Parents of children from Kindergarten to Year 12 must ensure their children attend school every day. On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school.

Parents must provide an explanation for absences to the school within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence. Where an explanation has not been received within the 7-day timeframe, the school will record the absence as unjustified on the student's record. As part of school protocol you will be contacted by a staff member after two days of absence without explanation.

1/2 Belmore Lego Creation and Story

Last week 1/2 Belmore were asked to write a description of a Lego creation that they had built at the beginning of the day. They had to be imaginative by thinking of what they were going to create, they had to show co-operation if they were working in a team and they had to speak in front of the class afterwards to explain what they had created. In their writing, they were asked to think of what makes a super sentence (capital letter, full stop, has to make sense, have someone or something in it). They were all creative and unique to each individual and I was so proud of what they had created and wrote about. Please enjoy the pictures by looking at the image and reading what they wrote about and what their creation looked like.

4/5 Poidevin Music Lessons

4/5 Poidevin have begun their music program this term. They have been involved in using a variety of concepts including untuned percussion, singing, tuned instruments and composing.

In our latest lesson the students were asked to follow along to a 4-beat count and compose their own pieces on a xylophone during this count. They then had to rest for 2 beats before they continued. This was to be improvised using the notes A, B, C, D and E. It was amazing to hear all of the different varieties of musical rhythms that the students came up with just using a few notes.

We all had a great time learning how to put music together, even though it was a bit loud at times.
