Premier's Reading Challenge 2021

Congratulations to those students who completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge this year. The challenge is now in its 17th year, and 16 students from Clapham Primary School will be receiving the Reader for Life certificates for achieving the Challenge every year.

This year Clapham Primary School has been selected as one of the 55 high achieving schools for the Premier’s Reading Challenge and was invited to attend the PRC Ceremony Reception at the Sanctuary, Adelaide Zoo. The school captains selected Ethan H from Room 16 to represent the school.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge Awards have been presented to each class last week.

I wish to thank all parents and staff for their support in ensuring students participated in the challenge this year. Well done!!  (see attached list).

Helen Krinas

I wish to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Helen for her amazing coordination and support of the PRC at Clapham.  Helen has assisted and encouraged many students to participate and complete the challenge - thank you Helen!

2022 Reception Orientation Visit

On 4 November we held our first Orientation Visit for our 2022 Reception students. They enjoyed getting to know each other and participated in some learning activities. Parents enjoyed meeting each other over a coffee in the hall. It was such a positive morning and great opportunity to welcome our new families to our school community. Thank you to our amazing teachers for coordinating the visit and to our SSOs who helped out. We are excited about the second Orientation Visit next week!

Children unwell - Information

We are currently seeing a lot of sickness at school. Please remember that if your child is unwell please do not send them to school. We know this can be tricky for some families but by sending your child to school unwell puts other members of the school community at risk. Under the current circumstances if your child has any of the following symptoms, mild or moderate they must stay home until they are well: fever, dry cough, tiredness, sore throat, gastro, conjunctivitis, headache, loss of taste or smell or headache. Attached is a guide that may help you when deciding if your child should stay home and return to school. We are currently seeing a lot of sickness at school. Report Cards

Semester 2 Report Cards will be sent home with students on Wednesday 8 December, as mandated by the Department for Education.  These reports will help you understand how your child is progressing against the Australian Curriculum achievement standards in each subject area  - what they should know, understand and be able to do by the end of the year. Years 1 to 7 student reports are based on an A to E achievement scale and all students receive accompanying comments that may include information about a student's strengths and areas for development, strategies to assist their progress, attitude and disposition to learning, and social development.  Teachers use a range of different assessment strategies and tools to gather evidence of student achievement. Based on evidence, teachers make an on-balance judgement to decide which grade best matches the standard the student has achieved.

The following table describes each grade in words.
