THE BIDWILL TELEGRAPH

Newsletter Term 1 Week 6

FROM THE PRINCIPALS DESK

There are many wonderful stories to tell since the last newsletter at Bidwill Public School.

Firstly, all classes are now very settled and students are fully engaged in their learning and class routines continue to be established.  It is a pleasure to go out into the playground and see the students enjoying their school. Also, we had our Captains and Prefects present their first whole school assembly, votes for House Captains and the Sporting season has started with a bang.

P & C MEETING THURSDAY, 14TH MARCH

Our next P & C meeting will be held on the 14th March at 2 pm in the Community Room.  Please come along and meet with other parents/caregivers to ensure you have a voice.  In order to vote, you must be financial and have paid your $1.00 prior to the Annual General Meeting.

The Annual General Meeting will be held on the 18th March.  At this meeting we will vote for our new executive positions for 2019.

I look forward to seeing you there.

CONCERNING BEHAVIOURS BY PARENTS ENTERING THE SCHOOL

In the last Newsletter, I included the new ‘School Community Charter’ that outlines acceptable and unacceptable behaviour.

For the past six weeks, the school has had to deal with parents and their non-compliance with the Department of Education Policies.  There have been several disappointing incidents with a very small section of the school community.  The school has made it clear that unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated.

Schools facilitate education and we look forward to working together for our students.

Our School Vision is – ‘The best school delivering the best education to students who deserve the best’.

SCHOOL PLAN 2018-2020

The revised school plan will be presented at the next P & C meeting to ensure the school community has contributed and is aware of its contents.  The school plan is available on the school website.

ANNUAL SCHOOL REPORT PREPARED FOR 2018

Every year the school has to prepare a report about student’s progress, school programs and expenditure.  The report is being prepared and will also be available on the school website after the school holidays.

Yours in Education

STAGE UPDATE

Kindergarten

Kindergarten has had a fantastic start to the year, it has been great getting to know all of the children. They have all settled in very quickly. It is pleasing to see them, making friends and becoming familiar with our classrooms and routines. We have enjoyed working in the various learning centres in our classrooms and playing together in the playground. Kindergarten have been learning how to write their names and to read, count, write and represent numbers. We have engaged in many different activities where we have learnt new skills and refined ones we have already learnt. We are excited to see what else we can learn and investigate over the next 5 weeks.

Penrith Legends Gala Day

Some of our Stage 2 and 3 students had a great day playing rugby league at the Penrith Legends Gala Day. All players displayed talent and sportsmanship but most importantly had fun.
