Do you have a concern or need to let us know information?
Schools are busy places but we always have time to listen. Any information that you can give us about your child that may impact on their learning helps us. As always the first contact should always be made with the classroom teacher. Please email or phone the office to arrange a time to talk with your child's teacher. While your teacher may not be available at the time, they will endeavour to get back to you as soon as they can. Letting us know information quickly helps keep little problems from becoming big problems. Most things can be sorted out with a quick phone call to exchange information.
If you call the office, they may ask you what the call is about. This information helps us be prepared to answer any questions you have when we call you back.
Notes and Money
There are lots of excursions and special days happening as the end of the year approaches. We understand this places a strain on some families. If you are having difficulty paying for excursions please contact the office so we can develop a payment plan or other supports that you need.
Notes that need to be returned will usually have a cut of date for return and payment. We have been very flexible about this date, however we would like you to keep in mind that the staff have these dates so we can finalise numbers with venues and for buses as well as supervision on the excursion and for students who are not attending as well as develop risk management plans that include student health information. We would ask that you respect these timelines to help us with planning and ensuring that costs for excursions are recovered.
Parent Teacher Interviews
We are currently finishing our last group of interviews in this very strange year. It has been wonderful that we have been able to connect with over 65% of our families to provide a snapshot of their child's progress throughout this interrupted year. While Zoom has had its challenges, it has also provided opportunities. It was wonderful to see both parents be able to attend interviews, even if they were still working or do the after-school run with kids. We are certainly evaluating the opportunities that the disruptions have provided to find innovative ways to engage with our community.
Sentral Parent Portal
If you attended a parent interview you would have used the parent portal to book. Sentral is a database that school staff use widely to manage attendance, write academic reports, share information and keep minutes and other information that supports students. We are going to continue to consolidate the platforms we use to provide one central location that parents can find information. Later in the term we will publish student reports to the portal. Parents will be able to access their child's report earlier than normal. We are hoping that this will streamline the reporting system for staff and parents. You are also able to notify the school if your child is away or inform us about upcoming absences. Thank you to the parents who are already using this system. It is saving office staff from double handling absence notification.
If you have not yet connected with the school through the Sentral Parent Portal or are not sure about how to do something in the portal, please contact the school and we will talk you though the system. While it is in it's early stages we hope that the Parent Portal will contain all the information you need about your child.
Thank you
Mrs Carey
