Student use of Digital Devices

This procedure guides student use of digital communication devices and online services at our school. Our school acknowledges the educational value of digital devices and online services in supporting and enhancing educational outcomes and student wellbeing. We also recognise they may cause harm if used inappropriately and that we need to support our students to use them in safe, responsible and respectful ways.

Through consultation the P&C have endorsed the school procedures in line with department policy which are available on our school website under Rules and Policies.

Chaplain Programs

We are extremely lucky to have Mrs Cornish (School Chaplain) assisting students with social and emotional group programs at Bateau Bay PS. Both the Shine group for identified Year 5 girls and Seasons for Growth for Year 6 students have commenced this week. We look forward to being able to support additional grades throughout the year.

School Photographs

Please be aware that Bateau Bay Public School photos will be held Week 9, Thursday 31 March and Friday 1 April. Due to the health restrictions most K-2 will be on the Thursday with scheduled family photos while on Friday Years 3-6 will participate in their photos. All students will be required to wear full summer school uniform. All information will be sent home soon.

Semester Review Meetings

If your child receives Integrated Funding Support (IFS) or is in Out of Home Care (OOHC) you would have received an invitation to attend the Semester One Review meeting. These meetings are scheduled for Week 9 (Monday 28 March and Wednesday 30 March). Please send your availability to Ms Hooper, either by return invitation or school email as spaces are filling fast. These meetings are a Departmental requirement.

Playground Support

This week we commenced the structured play area for 3-6, working out of the multi-purpose room. Students can attend this quieter ‘game room’ at recess. Teachers are encouraging students who find the playground overwhelming to attend and we ask parents to also discuss with their child to seek this support if needed.

Learning and Inclusion

SCHOOL NEWS

National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence

Bateau Bay Public School will be supporting the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence on Friday 18 March 2022. Students will be participating in class activities to promote Australia’s key bullying prevention initiative.

The theme for 2022 is Kindness Culture. By building Kindness Culture together, we can promote inclusion, respect and community belonging for all students in schools across Australia.

Harmony Day

As a school community we will come together and celebrate Harmony Day on Monday 21 March. Created in 1999 to celebrate unity and diversity, its roots go back hundreds of years as our first nations people lived in harmony with the land for centuries. It is now marked worldwide by reflecting on the ways we can ALL live in harmony with neighbours, regardless of background.

Bateau Bay PS students will mark the day by wearing ‘orange’ as a mufti day and participate in activities that celebrate diversity, unity and belonging.

Zone Swimming Carnival

Zone Swimming Carnival

On Friday 4 March Bateau Bay participated in the Tuggerah lakes Zone Swimming Carnival.

As Team manager, it was a very busy day making sure all students were at their events on time.

I would like to thank all the students for their behaviour throughout the day. They were respectful

and well-mannered and made the day much easier. To the parents who braved the conditions to be there in support of their children and the school thank you.

We had many good results with numerous students making finals. The certificates for these will be handed out at school when they arrive,

Again congratulations to all students for their sportsmanship and representing Bateau Bay Public so brilliantly.
