From the Principal's desk

Dear Parents, Carers and Families of EHPS

This term seems to be flying by and although some of our programs are restricted by Covid-19 we seem to extremely busy.

Semester 1 Reports

You should have received your child’s Semester 1 Report last week. We are extremely proud of our students’ progress, resilience to learning and their ability to set learning goals and solider on despite the interruptions they have faced this year.

Book Week

Last week we celebrated book week, with our first on-line book parade. It was truly wonderful to see so many of our students and staff dressing up as a beloved character from our literary world. The whole school once again engaged in our much loved “Book Reads” and although they were conducted in Stages (due to Covid-19) all students had the opportunity to listen to a favourite book. Please check out the photos on our website and school Facebook.

Book Fair

This week we were fortunate enough to have our annual Book Fair, which I know has been extremely popular with our students and a great fundraiser for our school. So “Thank you” to all who have contributed.

Plant a Tree Day

What an amazing initiative! Our students had so much fun out in the fresh air, dressed as book characters and learning about the environment. Be sure to read the Green Team’s report.

National Indigenous Literacy Week

This week we celebrate National Indigenous Literacy Day. To mark this occasion students participated in “Book Reads” around the school. Some classes were able to watch an online presentation highlighting the importance of Indigenous literacy, with guest speakers including Jessica Mauboy and Uncle Archie Roach. You can find this event on YouTube.

Road Safety

All students who ride their bikes or scooters to school are to be wearing a properly fitted helmet. Unfortunately, we have received reports from community members concerned about the welfare of our students, who they have seen after school, in uniform riding dangerously close to traffic without helmets. Staff at EHPS have been monitoring students who ride to and from school and are delighted to see that all are wearing helmets. Please remind your children of the importance of wearing a helmet when riding, skating and scootering after school and on the weekend.

Cross Country

This Friday our students K-6 will participate in a modified Cross Country Carnival which we hope will bring some enjoyment to all. The day is designed to engage students in physical fitness but more importantly to have fun while exercising with classmates. Unfortunately, parents can not attend due to Covid-19. There will not be a Zone Carnival. It is purely for fun!

Fathers’ Day

Sunday is the day we celebrate Father’s Day and the staff at EHPS hope all families find time, to reflect on how special the people in our lives are. Our students have been engaging in some creative activities which we are sure will brighten everyone’s day.

Regards

Jo Connolly

PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE 2020

Well done to all the students who completed the challenge this year ??

We are very proud of your achievements!

Students who participated will receive their award at an assembly in the coming weeks. ?

Book Week Drawing Competition

What an outstanding effort made by all students who entered our competition. ✏

It was extremely difficult for staff to select just one person for each category so it was decided to pick two instead.

Each entry will receive a participation certificate as all entries were amazing! We have some very talented artists at our school.

Congratulations to Violet P (2F), Bella L (2F), Louis C (3/4H) & Jara A (6H). All winners were able to pick their prize from our Scholastic Book Fair.
