Emails Outside School Hours

Mary Immaculate Primary School recognises that email is a fast and convenient way to communicate with your child’s teacher.

We wish to remind you that teachers read their emails at various times throughout the school day given the priority of attending first to students and their learning. Further, teachers are not expected to respond to emails from parents and others outside of normal working hours.

If you need to contact your child’s teacher urgently, please continue to direct your emails to mimmac@parra.catholic.edu.au which will then be triaged, as per usual practice.

Sometimes, parents are given further teacher contact details by the teachers in extraordinary circumstances such as a child having a chronic condition that may require communication in an emergency. Teachers should not be contacted using these details for less important matters. We respect parents' privacy and it is appropriate that we expect the same for teachers. In the case of a genuine emergency please contact the school office on mimmac@parra.catholic.edu.au or phone 02 9933 7800.

We appreciate your assistance and understanding.

If you have any questions about the above please feel free to contact me.

With appreciation for your ongoing support,

Stephen Dowd

Principal

Welcome to the 2022 Premier's Reading Challenge, the biggest children's book club in Australia! There has already been a great response to the challenge this year from previous participants and it is great to hear many children saying that they are on their way to earning their Bronze, SIlver or Gold certificate and a place on the Honour Roll. The Premier’s Reading Challenge runs from (Tuesday, 1st March) and finishes in August (Term 3).

If your child has previously completed the challenge, your child’s Username and Password remains the same.

New students will be allocated their PRC usernames and passwords over the coming weeks, ready to complete their online reading records. These will be handed to new students by class teachers.

Special note: All children from K-2 will complete the challenge during class and Library time. The teachers will enter the 30 books for all students, so K-2 parents do not need to enter anything online.

Kindergarten students will receive their Username and Password in the coming weeks.

Your child is to complete a number of books, depending on your grade:

All Challenge rules can be accessed via the website:

https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/rules.html

Year 3 - 6 Parents, you can assist your child to fill in their personal reading log at the Premier’s Reading Challenge Website. This is available from https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/booklist/readingLog.html

Explore the web site and check regularly for updates and news.

Happy Reading!

Blacktown & Cumberland Zone Swimming Carnival

Mary Immaculate had a fantastic day the Zone Carnival on Monday 28th February. All our relay teams took out first place and many of our students placed in their events. Well done to Olivia D, Lomax M and Ruby D for winning age champions on the day. We are super proud of all who attended, it was a great day for our Mary Immaculate team.

A special thank you to Mrs Ransom for volunteering to help out on the day and all of our community who were there to support our wonderful students despite the rain.

Congratulations once again to all our Zone Swimmers.

At Mary Immaculate we communicate with parents via the free Skoolbag app that is available from both the App Store and Google Play Store. Skoolbag can be installed on any iOS (iPad or iPhone) or Android device. Downloading the app means you immediately receive updates and reminders to your mobile phone or ipad. Remember to subscribe to your child's Year Group so that you will receive messages relevant to their year.  Instructions on how to download the Skoolbag App are available via this link.

Please refer to instructions provided by Skoolbag if you have changed your email address, so to ensure you still receive skoolbag notifications.
