Letter from the Acting Principal

As a school we frequently hear feedback about what a strong sense of community we have here at St John the Baptist. People who are new to our school will often remark about the warm welcome they receive and they notice the way we care about each other. We all play a role in creating this wonderful community and I take great joy in watching our families, our children and our staff connecting with one another.  Whether it's a chat on the playground before or after school, helping out in the canteen or attending one of our school events it is always wonderful to see people investing in our school and each other.

We held an impromptu assembly last week to recognise five of our students who through their words and acts of kindness have made such a difference to those around them.

Congratulations to:

Lucas S (Year 6)  for the personal sacrifices he has made to support and ensure another person's happiness

Cooper L (Year 6) for the encouragement and support he demonstrated towards others at Athletics day to make sure those around him felt good about themselves and their achievements

Archer C (Year 3) for his outstanding kindness to all his classmates, and for helping with jobs and cleaning tasks, without being asked

Quinn J (Prep) for her beautiful acts of kindness to someone in need

Jake C (Year 1) for making sure everyone feels included

Ash Wednesday Mass

There will be an Ash Wednesday Mass this Wednesday 2nd March at 9:15am.  Ash Wednesday is an important holy day in the liturgical calendar.  This day marks the beginning of Lent, a season of fasting and prayer.  Our Prep - Year 4 children will be attending this mass and you are most welcome to join us.  Our Year 5/6 students will take part in a prayer  liturgy whilst they are on camp.

School Audit

All schools are audited each year and ours was completed last week by Deloittes.  Our school was congratulated on the financial position we are in and the quality of the processes we have in place to ensure it continues.  I would like to publicly acknowledge the work that Cynthia and Jo in our office complete on a daily basis.  They are both excellent in the work they do and meticulous in the way they manage their tasks.

Division Swimming

We wish the following children well as they represent our school at the SSV Division Swimming Competition tomorrow :

Sam H, Samuel O, Jillian R, Joseph W, Cooper K, Patrick C,

Sophia A, Emily S, Thaaruni S

Good luck SJB Swim Team!
