      Principal's Message

      Dear Community

Can you believe that we have made it to the end of Term 2? It was quite an eventful term, with lots of ins and outs of both students and staff. I would like to thank the staff, in particular, for the supportive and professional way that everyone supported each other. We spent most of the term short staffed but in true Scarborough style everyone just chipped in to make sure we got things done.

Even so, we managed to fit a heap of amazing things in between! It was great to have face to face P&C and School Board meetings again. We started the term with NAPLAN for our Year 3 and 5 students, and then throughout the term our PP-6 students worked on their Speak Up presentations, culminating in the finals for our Year 4-6 students last week. Congratulations to Harry and Loh-Relm from Year 5 and Neve from Year 6 who have been selected to represent our school at the regional finals early next term. We also squeezed in events for National Road Safety Week and National Simultaneous Story Time.

Of course, we concluded the term this week with cross country yesterday and our amazing music assembly this afternoon. Both of these events showcased the diversity of student talent we have here at Scarborough Primary School. We are very proud of the perseverance and dedication that our students have put in to preparing for these events, with weekly practice at Running Club, Choir and Drumming sessions. Their hard work has certainly paid off!

Term 3 looks like being just as busy with sporting carnivals, spelling bees, Book Week and a Year 5/6 camp already on the planner. Something for everybody!

I would like to wish everyone a safe and restful holiday, and I hope everyone’s travel plans eventuate!

We will see students back on Tuesday 19 July for the start of Term 3

As always, if you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to call or email me on Sarah.Dawson@education.wa.edu.au

      Artists wanted!

Our school choir will be performing at the Perth Concert Hall in September as part of the Massed Choir Festival.  They are looking for some amazing artworks from our students to display as part of our concert.  Please see flyer below with details and listen to the song 'I Can Dream Anything' for inspiration - https://youtu.be/ZNj0dKUKL7I

This song will be our next community song for Term 3 and each line of the song references a different film.  Which part of the song will you draw?  All students are welcome to submit their drawings for consideration; drawings can be handed to me or left for collection in the front office.  Drawings must be submitted by July 29, 2022.

We are always looking for canteen volunteers. So, if you or anyone in your immediate family (aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc) have any Friday mornings available, Laura would love some assistance in the SPS canteen.

E-mail us at the P&C or speak to Laura on Fridays in the canteen if you are keen to help.

Please also note that all canteen orders need to be placed via QuickCliq prior to 8.30 am on Friday. Cash is not accepted.
