HouseNews

Issue 2020 / 15

FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK

With this final edition of HouseNews for 2021 comes both my sincere thanks to everyone in the Pittwater House family, and my best wishes for a Merry Christmas and every happiness for the New Year.

There has been so much written about this most extraordinary of years. For Pittwater House, the year has required an extraordinary level of resilience and energy. I must congratulate all within our community for the effort that has allowed our students to maintain and exceed their best achievements to date. It is now a time to celebrate the gains made and the remarkable opportunities that have occurred, despite the limitations the Government has placed necessarily upon us.

As we have had a year like no other, our need for safety, connection and belonging has been of the highest order. I believe that what has been achieved has allowed us to connect and feel safe within our Pittwater House family. Whilst everything around us has been unpredictable, our lives at school have had order, routine and clear roles and priorities. Even as we counted down to the final day, we were enjoying activities and thanking those who have made a difference to our lives this year.

Christmas Tree Appeal and Mufti

House Cup Tug 'O' War

The last week of term allowed us to celebrate with Prize Giving in a unique way. We were thrilled to have a small group of parents at each of our 11 different Prize Giving Assemblies. having our Hall filled in a COVID appropriate way, with the Organ playing, students presenting a snapshot of their year and prizes presented, has made the end of 2021 particularly meaningful. And mention must be made of the annual Christmas Tree Appeal run by our Prefects. Congratulations and thanks are due for the wonderful collection of  food and toys to be shared with those whose Christmas would otherwise be greatly challenged. We who have so much, have a duty to support those in the wider Sydney community, who are in need. I am very proud of what has been collected and distributed to the 2 charities the Prefects have chosen.

To the members of staff who are concluding their time at Pittwater House, I extend my heartfelt thanks for the significance of their work and contribution to our School. I wish each of these Staff well as they relocate to new lifestyles and communities beyond Sydney. To those who are assuming promotional roles, or who are moving to a different phase of their working life, every good wish.

Now, as you go off to weeks of holiday to refresh and celebrate, I wish you the happiest of times with your families. Remember how precious these times are with loved ones. May your Christmas be a wonderful time to rejoice, to celebrate, and to remember those whose year may have included personal loss.

Stay safe in all you do.

I look forward to welcoming you back to our great School in early February where another large group of new families will join us.

With every good wish.

VISUAL ARTS

From the Co-ordinator of Visual Arts

The Visual Arts department would like to invite the community to celebrate the outstanding artworks that have been achieved this year. As challenging as the year was, students have painted, drawn, focused, shot, animated and sculpted their way to produce these works- we are extremely proud of all of our students. Happy viewing to all, from the Visual Arts department.
