St Mary's Bulletin

Term 4 - Week 3 (28 October, 2022)

Dear St Mary's School Community

Values in Focus: Trust

We rely on each other to do the right thing.

All Saints Day

All Saints' Day is dedicated to honour and commemorate the saints. It is also known as All Hallows' Day or the Feast of All Saints. It is observed annually on November 1.  A saint is a person who is believed to be especially close to God. Some saints are prophets, or messengers of God. Others are healers, doers of good deeds, or martyrs. A martyr is someone who is killed for belonging to a religion.  Pre-primary will be leading us in Mass to commemorate All Saints Day on Tuesday, 1st November at 9.00am in the Church.  All are welcome to attend.

All Souls Day

All Souls' Day which is celebrated on November 2 every year is also known as the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed and the Day of the Dead. It's a day of prayer and remembrance and on All Souls' Day, people celebrate the lives and souls of those who have died.  The month of November is dedicated as a time of remembrance for all those that have died within our families, communities and beyond.

Year Six Camp

The Year Six campers had a wonderful time away – it was great to spend time with them on Wednesday and see the children attempt new challenges, overcome fears and have lots of fun.  There will be some very tired children this weekend.  A ‘humungous’ thank you to Mrs O’Malley, Mrs Riethmuller, Ian Sutherland and Matt White who accompanied the students and took time away from their own families and work to enable our Year Six students to have such a rich, rewarding and memorable experience.

World Educators Day

Today is World Educators Day in Australia.  The theme for this year is ‘Hats Off to Teachers’.  At St Mary’s School, we are blessed to have such committed, caring and inspirational educators as role models for our students.  We tip our hats off to them in respect of all they do, but more importantly all they are.  Thank you to our wonderful P & F for their lovely gift to all the staff of a colourful rose and freckle.  It is much appreciated.

GEMS

Mrs Riethmuller and I will be away at GEMS in Southern Cross on Monday.  Miss Walsh and Mrs Grant will be responsible for the school in my absence.

Welcome

We welcome the McGregor family (Poppy – PK) to the St Mary’s School community.

Grandparents day

Grandparents Day will be celebrated on Friday, 4 November 2022 at St Mary’s School.  Information has been sent home via Skoolbag – please ensure that you RSVP for catering purposes.

Principal

You will have received the letter last Friday, from School Advisory Council Chair, David O'Neill about my appointment in 2023 to St Augustine's in Rivervale.  While I have been honoured to serve this community over the last five years it is time for me to be closer to those that I love.  The process for the appointment of an interim principal for St Mary's School has begun and you will be notified once this process is concluded.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families.
