Term Four Week 2 | Wednesday October 23, 2019

From the Deputy Head

Welcome back to Term 4,

I would like to thank everyone for their support last term regarding the passing of my mother. It has been a difficult time for our family but it helps having such a supportive community to lean on. The boys have been particularly sensitive and thoughtful in allowing me to discuss her passing.

The annual Coogee Prep Golf Day is coming up on the Friday the 15th Nov. Competitors are playing for the Peter Stemi Memorial Cup, a father who tragically passed away two years ago and father of CPS Old Boys William and Chris Stemi. It would be lovely to see as many mums and dads from the CPS community participating in what will be an enjoyable day out.

This term we have introduced a 'Gratitude Tree' that will be positioned in the hall. Our aim is to give the boys the opportunity to write a note of gratitude each week and hang it on the tree. By the end of term I am hoping we will have a tree full of notes of gratitude to reflect on which is especially important heading into the Christmas season. I would like to thank Felicity Teen for floating the idea and preparing the resources.

Exciting baby news on many fronts! Mrs Yvette Foster is having her baby this week and Miss Nicole Jara is now teaching Kindergarten for the rest of this year and will be the Kindergarten teacher in 2020.

Mrs Annette Black is expecting a second child in March and Mrs Rachel Mitchell expecting  her second child in April.  My wife Casey and I are also expecting a second baby in January.  We might need to open a Coogee Prep creche at this rate! Strangley - Mr Dicks does not seem keen on this idea ......!

Kind regards

Mr Ryan Gowland

Deputy Head

2020 Swimwear order

Dear Parents

We have changed suppliers (to Engine Swimwear   for our Coogee Prep branded swimwear to ensure a far better quality garment. As we are unsure as to the quantity we need, we are taking pre-orders for these now to ensure we meet demand. The cost is $62.50.If you already have CPS swimmers (blue or black) it is fine to keep wearing them. The smallest size in the new Jammers is a size 8 and the largest is 20. If you order a size that is too small we can exchange it for the bigger one but remember these are very close fitting and boys grow fast!  Think of the size they will be in February - not now.Click here to pre-order and pay.

Movember is an annual event, raising money and awareness for Men’s Health. During the month of November, male staff and fathers of Coogee Prep are encouraged to grow a moustache, beginning on the 1st November (Next Friday).

Throughout the month, families will have the opportunity to donate any money possible, which will help fund world class programs that are saving and improving the lives of men. There will be a link sent out to all families during the course of November.

At the end of the month, the whole school will have a photo (boys wearing plastic moustaches), which will be sent to the local paper, promoting this extremely important movement. I encourage all families to get involved and as a school community, raise as much money as possible!

Thank you for your participation and effort in advance.
