Wingham Public School Bulletin

Term 2 Week 8

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

On Tuesday 21st June, we will be hosting a flag raising ceremony. The school recently had two flag poles installed for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags to be hoisted at the front of the school. As such we will be having a ceremony to raise the flags for the first time. We will have visitors attend from Taree High School, including Uncle Russell Saunders and a performing Aboriginal dance group. This ceremony will commence from 11.15am and everyone is welcome to attend.

WELLBEING MORNINGS

This week we have started the day with some fun activities for students. We have also been delighted to see some parents here as well. Yesterday we all did aerobics and this morning it was our scissors, paper, rock competition. Tomorrow morning we will be flying paper aeroplanes and on Friday taking part in some line dancing. It would be great to see some more parents come and if any one is a paper plane folding expert, please feel free to come and help with the folding.

VOLUNTARY SCHOOL CONTRIBUTIONS

Voluntary school contributions are used to enhance educational programs in our school.  Payments are voluntary and are $40 per student/family.

If you are able to assist in making a contribution, payments may be made on our webpage via the 'make a payment' tab; in cash or by eftpos.  We thank you for your support.

PERCUSSION GROUPS AND STAGE 2&3 CHOIRS

These groups participated in the Taree Eisteddfod and represented our school with pride. All students worked hard preparing their pieces of music and performed very well on the day.  The groups received some wonderful feedback from the adjudicator. Special thanks to Heather Mclaughlin who volunteers her time during music groups.  Thanks also to Mrs Williams, Mrs Yanez, Mrs Bath, Miss Cattell and Dave Rushbrook for accompanying the students on the day of their event.

SPORTS REPORT

What a busy term for sport! We have had so many individuals and teams compete in a variety of sports at a multitude of levels. Students have represented the school at cross country carnivals, knockouts for touch football, basketball and netball. Congratulations to the boy’s touch football team and the girls’ basketball team who will progress on to the next round of their respective knockouts. Good luck to Mia Currie, Tegan McCallum, Amelia Black, Kye Welsh, Melia Ward and Eaden Weber who will compete at the Hunter Cross Country carnival on Friday in Newcastle.

Best of luck to the open’s rugby league team, the boys cricket team and the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams who will compete in their knockout games over the next week.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who provide transport to and from games and the support you show when there. Your efforts are much appreciated and without your support and assistance these games would not happen.
