Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

It was wonderful to see so many parents at our Literacy @EHPS on Wednesday. Photos will be uploaded to EHPS Facebook soon so you can see the fun in learning for the students as well as parents during the literacy session.

Feedback from the parent workshop about the new curriculum for K-2 presented by Mr Larnach and Miss Harvey was also very positive. Many parents are keen to have further information about the many concepts and language that students are using now in literacy. The information about decodable readers and how parents can help at home can be downloaded in this newsletter.

Thank you to everyone who responded to the initial Kiss and Ride survey. The survey responses from community and staff were very varied from ‘great changes’ to ‘why did it have to change’.

Next week I am meeting with the Department of Education Road Safety Officer to review the road signage around the school and look at the Kiss and Ride system currently in place to be able to adjust and strengthen road safety for our school community. Thank you to the drivers who are following the expectations of moving to the front of the line before pulling out.  I have also spoken to the bus company for their feedback. Our school is the first school on their route, and they usually are here before the school bell at the end of the day. It is only when they get held up at the depot that they are later and queue behind cars in the Kiss and Ride zone. Thank you, drivers, for your patience and understanding in working with the school to try and get this right for everyone.

Hopefully I will see many of our school community at our first PBL  Celebration assembly on Monday and then on Thursday for our Easter event.

Make the most of the awesome moments and have a safe break over the next school holidays.

Stage 1 Highlights

EHPS Cross Country

Recently Edgeworth Heights Public School held their annual Cross Country. The course ran the border of the school and allowed for some hill climbs and descents making it a real cross country. Students 8-10 years old ran the track twice completing 2Km and students 11 and 12 years old ran 3 laps completing 3km.

There was some close races with students pushing each other all the way to the finish line while others had a leisurely stroll still putting in for their house to add valuable points to their total. All students completed to their best ability and enjoyed a well deserved icy pole once completing their race.

Congratulations to all top 4 place getters who will represent Edgeworth Heights Public School at the Zone Cross Country early next term.

K - 2 Fun Run

In conjunction with the Cross Country, K-2 students completed in a Fun Run. The course ran around the oval and allowed students to run up and down the hill giving an insight to what the Cross Country will be like in coming years. Students enjoyed being outside and running around. All students completed to their best ability and enjoyed a well deserved icy pole once completing their run.
