Principal's Message

School Bytes Parent Portal

Last week we launched the School Bytes Parent Portal – have you created your account yet? The school bytes parent portal lets you view and manage all school permission and payments due for your child at any given time. If you are like me and have children attending across two schools, you can see all of the information from both schools in one place (provided each school is using School Bytes – Lambton High is). The portal makes tracking what is due and when it is due easy and simple to follow. You can also see in the portal the events that you have given permission for, and the payment history function allows you see payments made.
Each time the school adds a new activity to School Bytes, you will still receive an email from School Bytes to say there is a new activity requiring permission, payment or both, however if you lose track of these – checking in the portal allows you manage this well.

Payment & Permission deadlines

With the introduction of the School Bytes system, parents and carers are advised to be aware of and monitor when the deadline for each activity falls. Once a final due date has passed, parents will be unable to submit permission or payment through School Bytes and we will not be accepting permission or payments manually through the office.

When we schedule an activity, the school has a responsibility and a duty of care to plan alternate supervision and activities for any student who has elected not to participate in that activity. This requires additional organisation and communication with staff, and it is not something that we can do on the day of the scheduled activity. Hence most activity deadlines are set a few days before the event is scheduled to take place. We do not wish for students to miss out on these extra activities, but the responsibility for returning payment and permission on time lies with families. We will continue to send regular reminders through both School Bytes and Skoolbag so that you are well informed of upcoming payments. Please always ensure that you complete both payment and permission for each activity.  If you experience any difficulty with using School Bytes, please alert our office staff and they will do their best to assist you.

Happy P & C Day!

P & C Day is celebrated on the first Wednesday of March. Our P & C members work closely with the school across each year fundraising to support programs for the school, to represent a community voice and strengthen our home and school partnerships.

May I take this opportunity to acknowledge and congratulate our hard-working P & C executive, led by Mrs Jaime Bartlett as President, P & C Executive, committee members and volunteers for all they do for our school. We all say thank you !!!  I know the P & C are always keen to welcome new faces so please free free to come along to their next meeting this Tuesday evening.

Combined Schools Anzac Service – Year 6

Every year, supported by the Newcastle Permanent Building Society, the combined schools of the Hunter region collaborate to plan a unique Anzac Day Commemorative service specifically for primary school-aged students. Saluting the service of those who served, the annual commemorative events narrate the untold stories of Hunter men and women in time of war. Our military heritage is celebrated by educating students and the community about the meaning of ANZAC and the value of service and sacrifice. These unique events are researched and delivered by students from the three education sectors and include drama and music performances that retell important historical stories. This year’s commemorative service will take place on Tuesday 4 April at the Civic Theatre starting at 1:00pm. Tickets are limited and therefore our school would like to offer this opportunity to all of our Year 6 students. There will be a cost of $8.50 to cover bus transport to and from the theatre. Notes will be sent home via School Bytes tomorrow to the families of all Year 6 students. We hope that you are able to support their attendance at this special assembly.

Asphalt Playground Equipment Area

Construction of our new playground equipment in our Asphalt area is now complete and students were able to enjoy using the equipment towards the end of last week.  Further works including landscaping around the tree, which we hope will include additional seating, is still to be finalised. A massive thank you to our wonderful P & C for without their generous donation , this project would not have been possible.

Have a great week.

  • If your child will not be attending a NSW Government high school next year, please complete the online EOI and indicate ''Placement Not Required''.
