2019 Student Leaders

Here are our 2019 Student Leaders! What a wonderful photo that was recently taken of the Student Councillors and Faction Captains. They are doing a fantastic job so far this year in their roles as student leaders of our school. We look forward to some great work from them in the coming year.

Assembly

Congratulations to Room 26 for their reciting of the poem, "My Country" by Dorothea Mackellar.  A lot of remembering for the students and they did a great job.  Well done to the staff and students.

The previous week saw EC1 and EC3 perform for us.  They were very entertaining.  Well done to all.

This week will be a Junior assembly with Room 3 performing for us. I hope to see you there.

Harmony Day

This Thursday we will be holding our annual Harmony Day with an extended family picnic lunch from 12:00pm until 12:30pm and also a football match on the oval.  There will be displays of children’s work on boards around the undercover area as classes have been doing activities in relation to Harmony Day and also the Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence.  You will notice the paper chains around the school with symbols and words against bullying and staying safe.

Parents are also asked to sign the pledge and join the paper chain

Christchurch Tragedy

As we are all feeling the effects of the tragedy in Christchurch, we are offering the opportunity for community members to place a card, flowers or any symbol under the flag pole to pay your respects.  The flag will be flown at half-mast during Thursday’s Harmony Day event.  Through our Skoolbag App, we have sent out links to support agencies if anyone is in need of support at this time.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community Fair

The Fair for 2019 will be on Friday and Saturday, 22 & 23 March.  The Fair Committee this year have brought in a variety of events to attract more people to the event.  The school will have a small display and some students have been involved in a recycled art project which will be entered.  There is some risk of the this being the last Fair and I hope the community get behind all the activities and go along.  It should be very entertaining for all.

School Canteen

Thank you to the school community for responding to the Canteen survey conducted recently.  The information gained from the survey was presented to the P&C at the meeting on Monday evening.  I am sure you will be seeing some changes come into effect in the near future.  The Canteen is a vital part of the school and we all need to work together to ensure it operates effectively for everyone.  Updates will be published in future newsletters so the community can gauge the impact of any changes.
