Term 4 Week 5 Newsletter 2022

Acknowledgement of Country

From the Principal

Dear Jamberoo Public School Community,

Next week, our champion debating team will come up against the best debaters in NSW in the State Championships held from Sunday13th November to Wednesday 16th November. Mrs Behl-Shanks and her team, consisting of Tessa Smith, Mahala Probert, Reece Mills, and Amy Harris are chomping at the bit in anticipation of the upcoming event. The whole school community is behind you team. We are all very proud of your amazing accomplishments this year and can’t wait to hear about your efforts at the debating camp.

Next Friday 18th November, students from Wombaraa and Birrahlee will be attending what promises to be an amazing and exciting excursion at the Minnamurra Rainforest. It should be a day of learning, fun and adventure.

Fun Day

A decision regarding Fun Day for 2022 has been made. We are excited to announce that this year the awesome students of Jamberoo will be heading off to Hoyts at Warrawong to enjoy a movie on Thursday 15th December.

Fun Day will be a well-deserved reward for our wonderful students who have worked so hard throughout 2022. The cost of the day is ‘free’. Transport and movie ticket will be covered. The students will just need to bring their recess and drink with them. Upon returning to school, a free sausage sizzle, drink and ice block will be provided for the students.

A permission note for parents/carers will be sent home via Operoo early next week. Please complete the permission form at your earliest convenience so we have a clear indication of the number of students who will be attending Fun Day. Information about the movie that the students will be watching will be provided on the Operoo note.

Gold Day

This year the school has decided that all students who achieve gold will be rewarded for their achievement through an afternoon tea with the principal on Thursday 8th December. This will be conducted at recess and will involve all the students who have achieved Gold in 2022.

Next year, we plan on organising many morning teas with the principal as students achieve Gold throughout the course of the year. Each child who receives Gold will have a morning tea with the principal in 2023 during the term that they reach Gold. For example, if your child achieves Gold at the beginning of Term Three, they will celebrate the achievement halfway through Term Three with a small group of students who have also reached Gold.

The school very much looks forward to celebrating the amazing achievements of our students now and into the future.

Communication Survey

The school is proactive in requesting feedback from our school community regarding all aspects of school life at Jamberoo Public School. This term, we will be actively seeking the school community’s opinions in these key areas:

·         What is the school doing well and where can we improve?

·         Communication

·         Reporting student achievement.

In an effort to gauge the effectiveness of Jamberoo Public School's level of communication with parents/guardians - we need you to please complete the following survey. All feedback provided will be evaluated and analysed and will assist in future whole school planning. Please find a link below to the second survey of the term – Jamberoo Public School Communication Survey 2022:

It would be greatly appreciated if responses could be provided on or before close of business on Friday 25th November. Thank you everyone in advance for taking the time to share your thoughts on the school’s communication systems.

New Enrolments

We have two new enrolments who started their educational journey at Jamberoo Public School earlier this term. Henry (Kookaaraa) and Tyler Miller (Walabi) are welcome additions to our wonderful school and have settled in well in their new classes.

Student Enrolments 2023

If you, or anyone else you know, is planning to enrol children at Jamberoo Public School in 2023 it is vital that you contact the school as soon as possible to confirm the enrolment(s). Alternatively, if you know that in 2023 you will be relocating from Jamberoo and your child/children will not be enrolling at the school it is very important that you make this known to us, so we have an accurate picture of student numbers for next year. Your cooperation and communication in this matter is very much appreciated.

2023 Leader Nominations

Last Thursday notes went sent home regarding student nominations for leadership positions in 2023. Year 5 students have the opportunity to nominate themselves for the positions of captain and vice-captain in 2023.

Speeches will be presented in the school hall on Thursday 24th November at 12pm. Families are more than welcome to attend.

House captain and vice-captain meetings will be conducted on Friday 25th November for interested students.

Presentation Day

A reminder that our annual Presentation Day will be on Friday 9th December in our school hall. The ceremony will commence at 9:30am and will conclude at approximately 11:30am. All parents and families are welcome.

Newsletter Calendar

Please take the time to read over the Term Four calendar in today's newsletter. There are many important and exciting events coming up this term. At this stage, there are still some end of year activities that have not been confirmed. Keep a look out for the events to be added to the calendar in the near future.

Pre-School Visits

During Week 6, Monday 14th November – Friday 18th November, the school is very much looking forward to having our future Kindergarten students come up and visit us. The preschool children will be joining our students for lunch each day then they will join in with our fun lunch time activities. This provides our future enrolments the opportunity to orientate themselves with the school and develop relationships with our current students. We look forward to seeing the preschool children at our wonderful school in three weeks’ time.
