2019 National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence

On Friday 15th March, The National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violenceour LBHS Student Executive team held a day of workshops where they spent time connecting with junior students, igniting conversations & creating bullying awareness.

The entire event was organised and run by the Student Executive Team who hope to introduce these same workshops to the other year groups. There was fantastic feedback on the workshops, we look forward to having the older students also engage in them.

It's great to see our Student Executives take on these responsibilities within the school. Fantastic role models... Well done team!!

Technology Mandatory at Liverpool Boys High School

Technology Mandatory is a rich and complex subject that provides students with opportunities to become technologically literate individuals capable of developing creative solutions to identified problems and situations. Starting from this year students in stage 4 will get the understanding and knowledge in four different context areas:

·         Agriculture and food technologies.

·         Digital Technologies

·         Engineered systems

·         Materials Technology

Students learn through practical application of the content knowledge in each areas. At LBHS students learnt about Materials Technology in first rotation. They worked with Foam and Timber materials. Students designed and produced medieval style Foam Helmet and a Storage Box for pack of playing Cards. They customized their boxes with their choice of logo or art piece.

English Studies Newtown Street Art Excursion

Ms Nicholson-Lake's English Studies class explored the street art of Newtown for their "Landscapes of the Mind" topic. They took photos of the street artwork and used the photos to create an art placard for their assessment.

ABCN Future Thinkers Workshop

A group of students from Year 9 - 11 attended the Future Thinkers ABCN Workshop,26th March 2019, at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in North Sydney.

Students were grouped with mentors and worked through a series of interactive and fun activities to promote creativity and divergent thinking before being introduced to the concept of  design thinking. In their groups they explored their worked on school based issues such as waste, bullying and creative spaces. They did this by using the 5 key phases of the design thinking process: Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test.

Students demonstrated their communication and presentation skills at the end of the session, as they presented their teams design solutions to the wider group.

Feedback from ABCN and Tata Consultancy Services was incredibly positive. Our students represented LBHS so well, they were able to interact in an adult environment respectfully and professionally. A particular mention goes to College 1 students, Bassam and Ramsn, they both were articulate and engaging with the mentors.

International Women's Day 2019

March 8th was International Women's Day. Our students, in collaboration with Westfield Liverpool, acknowledged and celebrated the women of Liverpool. Our students walked around the Westfield centre handing out inspiring quote cards and chocolates to all women.

This small act brightened up many people's day!
