Term 4 Week 9

From The Principal

Changes in 2020

Next year will see some changes at Terara Public School and the staff have been working hard to ensure that they will all go ahead smoothly for the benefit of the students. Many students (and parents) have been curious to know who their teacher will be in 2020. Now that arrangements have been finalised, we are pleased to announce teaching roles for next year:

Relieving Principal    Mr Watt (Terms 1 & 2)

K/1                               Miss Gould

1/2                               Miss Daly

3/4                               Miss Nebe (Terms 1 & 2)

5/6                               Miss Cooper

All staff are excited about their new roles and have been busily planning for their year ahead.

Semester Two Student Reports

Semester Two Student Reports will be sent home this Friday, 13/12/2019. Teachers have put in many hours of work to assess and analyse students' learning, behaviour and attitudes over Terms 3 and 4 to provide a detailed report to parents for each student. Reports are produced according to NSW Department of Education guidelines whereby students achieving a 'C' grade are competently achieving the reported outcomes. All grades and ratings are explained on page 1 of the report. Students are assessed on a range of indicators for achieving the learning outcomes covered during the semester.  The teacher's comment further elaborates on each student's learning. Each student has also reflected on their learning throughout the semester and their comments have been included on their report to provide their insight.

5/6W Assembly This Week

This week's assembly will be hosted by 5/6W and will feature videos of Year 6 students reflecting on their time at Terara Public School.

Library Book Returns

Please return all library books as soon as possible for the library stocktake, which is currently in progress.

Upcoming Excursions

Please ensure students have returned excursion notes for the Reward Day excursion to the Bay & Basin Leisure Centre (for all students K - 6) on Tuesday, 17/12/2019, or let the office know if they won't be in attendance on that day. There is no cost for this excursion as the P&C and the school have paid all costs in full.

Class 5/6W will be attending the Shoalhaven Zoo this Wednesday, 11/12/2019. This excursion is their prize for their winning entries in the Endangered Species Competition, from the Shoalhaven City Council. Please ensure all students in 5/6W have returned their permission notes.

Terara Talent Quest

The annual Terara Public School Talent Quest will be held on the last day of term, Wednesday, 18/12/2019. Students from K - 6 can audition for the talent quest and should rehearse their act before their audition.

Performers may be singers, instrumentalists, comedians, magicians or dancers and may perform solo, as a duo or as a group. Singers should have a backing track or live music, rather than trying to sing over or along with a recording artist.

Auditions will be held at lunch times and will begin next week. See Mrs Sansom to enter and to arrange auditions.

Jervis Bay School of Music Student Concert

Students who have been taking lessons with Alfi or Lily from the Jervis Bay School of Music will be entertaining us with a concert this Thursday, 12th December, starting at 2pm. Parents/carers and other family members are welcome to come along and join the audience to enjoy the talented performance.

Froggy Draw Winners

Congratulations to the winners of last week's Froggy Draw - Lana and Tazmund.
