Term 4 Week 6

From The Principal

Retirement in 2020

After a long and rewarding career in primary school education, I will be retiring in mid 2020. Leading up to then, I will be taking long service leave from the beginning of the year, so I will finish at the end of this year. I have been very lucky to do a job that I love, and one that gives so much satisfaction. I have certainly enjoyed my time at each and every school, but especially at Terara Public School. Working with such great students, staff and school community has been an absolute pleasure, and I feel we have achieved a great deal over the three years since I began here. I know I will miss working at Terara. My husband is also retiring at the same time, however, and we are looking forward to the next phase of our lives with much anticipation. We have plans to travel and explore our interests in many things that we haven't quite had the time for in the past.

Mr Watt will be Relieving Principal for Terms 1 & 2, before the position is advertised. Miss Nebe (currently RFF teacher for 3/4D & 5/6W) will take Mr Watt's teaching role on class. All teachers will take on a new teaching role next year.

Country and Cupcakes

Thank you everyone who helped make our Country & Cupcakes fundraiser a great success. Our 5/6 class raised over $450 for the Year 6 Farewell by serving delicious, home-baked cupcakes to our students and staff. Thanks again for your support!

Jump Rope for Heart

Today is the end of our fundraising for Jump Rope For Heart. Our students have greatly improved their skipping skills and we also raised an incredible amount of money. We had a visit from Jump Rope For Heart on Thursday, and they couldn't believe how much money our small school had raised and the level of skipping ability in our students. Well done everyone who participated this year, improved their skills and fitness, and raised money for this great cause. Also well done to Kylah, Yasmin, Finn and Caleb who all individually raised over $500. All prizes will be ordered today and students should receive them before the end of the year. Our Jump Off event, run by our Year 5 leaders, will be held tomorrow and will be a great celebration of all our hard work.

Online Safety Guide For Parents

With technology and online trends constantly changing, we know how hard it is to keep up with what is happening for children and teens online. The Australian Government's eSafety website has an excellent guide for parents to help you keep your kids safe, and we highly recommend you take a look to get the latest and most reliable advice. The link below will take you straight to the parents tab.

Find advice for parents and carers to help children have safe, enjoyable experiences online.

Kindergarten Orientation

REMINDER! The next Kindergarten orientation for students beginning in 2020 will be held on:

Tuesday, 3rd December - 9.30 am - 11.20 am

This orientation session is for children only. Please drop off your child at school at 9.30 am and pick them up at 11.20 am. Children will need a snack to have for recess.

We look forward to welcoming our new Kindergarten students to our school.
