Tell Them From Me Partners in Learning Parent Survey

The Tell Them From Me surveys provide schools with student, teacher and parent perspectives about the engagement and wellbeing of their students. This information is valuable to schools and can be used to identify strengths and successes, as well as areas to target for improvement.

The Partners in Learning parent survey helps to clarify and strengthen the important relationships between parents and the school. Participation in the parent survey is optional and we encourage all parents to complete so we can gain the broad range of perspectives as we build a robust data set. The survey is anonymous and can be completed on a computer, tablet or mobile device in a choice of 23 available community languages. The survey link will be sent to our families via the Skoolbag App next week.

Please don’t hesitate to contact the school if you require further information or support in accessing the survey.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

At Wamberal Public School, we are safe, respectful learners. This week, all students have been learning about being safe, respectful learners by being an upstander.

At Wamberal Public School we embrace a peer leadership teaching philosophy for antibullying strategies, and our antibullying lessons are delivered by Year 6 students for all Years K-5 students. Our Year 6 students reinforce their own learning by instructing others, with all students feeling more comfortable and open when interacting with peers.

Our school website has more information about our school’s Antibullying Plan and Student Participation and Leadership Guide.

PBL Rewards Day Is Coming!

Tomorrow is our PBL Rewards Trading Day when students ‘trade’ their SRL tokens for rewards from the Term 3 Rewards Menu.

PBL Rewards Day will be next Friday 23 September 2022.

Have a great week everyone.

Library News

We love reading!

A big shout out to 3 Orange who had every student borrowing last week. Thank you Miss Heckenberg for encouraging regular reading habits.

Currently reading from this Year’s Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Lists Stellarphant by James Foley (PICTURE BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARD).

The story of one anthropomorphised elephant comments on privilege, gender, diversity and the power of creativity and persistence. Readers will admire Stella’s resilience and problem solving as she challenges the status quo of Space Command’s space programme. Stella and her gang jump off the page with gumption and determination, humour and playfulness. Foley’s endpapers are fascinatingly informative. So much emotion is conveyed on Stella’s face, through her eyes, tongue and forehead wrinkles. The fold-out page at the end is also a delightful addition. This book has the potential for lots of rich discussion around who become powerful, educated, and celebrated and who doesn’t. Recommended for younger readers aged 3+.

Winners have now been announced.

Canteen During Week 10

The school canteen will be open on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 September only during the final week of term 3.

Essential Canteen Price Rise

Due to continuing cost pressures there will be price rises across the canteen menu from the start of Term 4. The decision to raise prices was not taken lightly and increases have been kept to a minimum. The P&C appreciates your understanding on this matter.

P&C Meeting

The final P&C meeting for the term is on Monday 19 September at the school at 7.30pm. Please come along, all are welcome. Details: facebook.com/wamberalpandc

Belated Thanks

Thank you to Brown Sugar Bakery at Forresters Beach for their support of the Father's Day breakfast.

The P&C would also like to thank the school community for the strong participation in canteen healthy food month. Entries need to be returned to the canteen by Friday (September 16).

Brickfest

Brickfest is coming to Brisbane Water Secondary College, Woy Woy Campus, Edward Street, Woy Woy on Sunday (September 18). It's a family fun day and an all-weather event. The cost is $8 per person or $30 for a family of 4. Tickets can be bought on-line at trybooking.com/CBLIX

Shop and support our School

DID you know that buying groceries at a Ritchies IGA Supermarket can help support our P&C? Wamberal Public School P&C is one of the recipients you can elect to support when you register for a free Ritchies card or download the free Ritchies Card App for your mobile phone. Our P&C has been fortunate to receive more than $8000 since the inception of the program.

Spread the word to family and friends. If they live far away and shop at a Ritchies IGA near them, they can still select our P&C as their nominated recipient.

Oztag Gala Days - Stage 2 and Stage 3

Students from Stage 2 and Stage 3 participated in Oztag Gala Days at McEvoy Oval, Umina Beach in Week 8.

The Stage 2 boys team won 2 games and lost 2 games. They put in an outstanding effort against some tough opponents.

The girls Stage 2 team were undefeated for all 7 games, making them the Grand Final winners!

The Stage 3 boys and girls both started out strong with the boys having a 1 all draw and the girls winning 5-2. In the remaining games the boys and girls tried their hardest with the boys coming away with 2 more wins. While the girls gave it their all, they were not able to come away with another win. Overall, the teams should be very proud of their achievements and their effort.

All players displayed amazing teamwork, athleticism and great sportsmanship. It was great to see them supporting each other and giving it their all. It was such a fantastic day!
