Dear Parents,
Mrs Thompson
I have had a number of phone conversations with Mrs Thompson and she is doing well considering the circumstances. She was kind enough to find time to be at the Year 6 Games Night held at the end of Week 2, for a short period of time.
Mrs Thompson has indicated that she will be returning to school later this month but she is definitely missing the children and she is keeping in touch with what is happening at the school. As always, our thoughts are with her.
Absent Notes and Attendance at school
We all know how important it is for children to be at school as often as they can throughout the year. There are times when students are sick or there are some pressing family matters to attend to that require children to be away from school. When this occurs, students should return to school with a note explaining why they were absent from school. Please note that this is a legal requirement. As previously mentioned, some parents utilise the Skoolbag app to send in an absence notification. It is much easier for both parents and the school.
Evacuation update
You may have seen over the last few weeks that some high schools were forced to evacuate after receiving threatening emails. Most students in our school have been involved in evacuation and lockdown drills in previous years and are aware of what to do in the case of an emergency.
I thought that it would be appropriate to briefly outline procedures for your reference.
- If there is an emergency, emergency services are called, Department of Education is notified and parents will be informed via Skoolbag app.
- In the case of evacuation, students will move out to School House Road or Kenneth Slessor Drive, whichever is the closest.
- All students will be moved to Glenmore Park High School via the safest route, to provide shelter, water, food and toilet facilities.
- Parents will be kept notified about where and when to meet their children. We have duty of care for the children and will take this very seriously in an emergency situation.
- In the case of a lockdown, students will be kept in their classrooms until it is safe for them to be released into the playground. Skoolbag app will be the main form of communication.
Of course, we hope that we never have to enact these procedures.
Moving away from Regentville PS in 2021?
Is your family moving away from Regentville Public School in 2021? We would appreciate a call or a note that will help us with our planning for the new year.
Skoolbag
As always, Skoolbag app is the major form of communication with messages, news, newsletters and emergency information. The app can be downloaded from your app store for free then you select our school.
Finally, we will keep you updated with information regarding the end of year events and any changes to our usual procedures.
Thanks,
David Bamford
