Secondary School Chapel was back this week! A fun game of social distancing musical chairs with a twist followed by a great encouraging word via video and Mr Hall! Such a great day!‘But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.’ (Romans 5:8)
I am convinced that by now you will have had enough time with your children to recognise not only does each child learn differently, but each individual learns differently at different times of the day! Whilst I am sure it has been testing and difficult at times, I hope it has been a wonderful privilege to assist your children in their learning journey from home. I know staff are certainly looking forward to resuming the learning journey with your children on campus, in the classroom.
At RCC, it is important that the learning journey our students are on has plenty of opportunities for our students to create habits that lead to exceptional life-long learning. I assume in your time with your kids that you will have noticed whilst it is very important for students to learn the content, it is just as important for them to be able to develop their skills; those hidden elements of any curriculum that enable success. Things such as resilience, courage, patience, generosity, teamwork, grace, reflection and hope become the critical enablers of successful learning. This is what we mean when we say ‘Learning the RCC Way’. We recognise that it is not just the mastery of content that is our goal, but the mastery of the skills that lead to renewal, that lead to each student enjoying learning and enjoying life.
We are so excited to welcome students back on campus, knowing full-well that in their time away from our campus the learning has not stopped. We are excited to build on what you have been able to achieve and celebrate the joy that can come from learning the RCC Way. Continuing to sow into our students so that they can learn to contribute to their own development, their family’s development and their community’s development.
Should you have any questions about the return to ‘on-campus’ learning, including health and safety, bus details, student expectation and more, you can go to our website and use the COVID-19 banner link. Alternatively, you can call or email the School Office and Ali and Jane will be more than happy to help.
Please also have a read of the tips from Reach Out that Lorin Ripley, RCC School Counsellor, has included in this edition of Tidings and call or email her should you have any questions or concerns. She has also shared this link on handling change for your information https://justbetweenus.org/life/stress/christian-women-advice-on-handling-change/
Again, thank you for your patience and efforts journeying with us through this unusual time and for your patience as we continue into our new normal.
Good tidings,
Jonno.
