Beaumont Bulletin

Term 1 Week 6

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

The community embraced an enjoyable BIVOUAC last Saturday night and I appreciated their support. It was obvious to me that parents highly value participating with their children at their school. Many thanks to the P&C for organising the dinner and breakfast and Mr Palmer and Mr Corbineau for supporting me in the preparation for the event. It really was a night to remember!

As stated previously the NAPLAN assessments for children in Years 3 and 5 will be held during the next two weeks. Assessments will be conducted after 9:00 am each morning and I invite all parents to have their children here on these days.

Wednesday 15 March                    Writing

Wednesday 22 March                    Language Conventions

Thursday 23 March                          Numeracy

The school has been advised that there have been several children who have contracted chicken pox. Please note the attachment which has been provided by the Department of Health to support the management of this outbreak.

Year 5 children enjoyed the camping experience at Point Wolstoncroft last week. It was an opportunity for them to develop their social skills and participate in quality outdoor activities. I extend my thanks to Miss Grevler, Mrs Coady and Miss Vayzer for providing their time and expertise to enable the children to enjoy the experience.

Years 1 and 2 children are enjoying their excursion to the Gibberagong Education Centre at Bobbin Head today. They are taking the opportunity to discover their natural environment and explore indigenous culture.

Year 6 children are looking forward to participating in their overnight excursion to Mungo National Park next week. I thank the many teachers and administrative staff who have spent time providing the opportunity for children to participate in this unique excursion.

Teachers consistently encourage children to read a wide range of material. The school has an excellent system which allows children to borrow books on a weekly basis. The Premier’s Reading Challenge is designed to further enhance children’s literacy skills and enjoyment. Information for the program has been sent and I invite parents to encourage children to participate in this valuable program. Please note the attachment for login details.

School photograph day will be held on the Tuesday 28 March. Children are asked to wear their full summer uniform and photographs will be taken after 9:00 am. Envelopes for ordering have been distributed and need to be returned to the class teacher. Payment can be made online or returned in the envelope. Sibling photo envelopes are available at the school office.

Parents are invited to attend the Parent / Teacher Interviews to be held later this month. The individual meeting will provide an opportunity for the teachers to report on children’s social and academic progress. Bookings will be open online on Wednesday 15th March at 8:00 am.

The Zone Swimming carnival will be held on Tuesday 21 March at the Olympic Swimming Pool at Homebush. Mr Gadsden will be organising the children to participate.

Please note the date for the Dads' Night Out to be held on Friday 31 March. Please take the opportunity to enjoy the company of fellow fathers.
