St Mary's Bulletin

Term 2 - Week 7 (12 June, 2020)

From the Principal

Dear St Mary's School Community

Pastoral Visit

On Thursday the 11th June, Father Andrew surprised all classes by coming around for an informal chat about what has been happening! Father Andrew has missed everyone being able to come to the Church for School Masses. Here are some photos of our students ‘catching up’ with Father Andrew.

Welcome Back Parents

It was wonderful to see parents back dropping off and picking up their children at their classrooms this week!  Thank you to everyone for following the guidelines – it is much appreciated!

Below is a link to the most recent letter sent to parents and caregivers outlining the current Term Two arrangements.

Lost Property

There is a large collection of lost property growing – especially jumpers and jackets.  If you have missing items please check the lost property box next time you are at school.

Reports

The delivery of teaching and learning at St Mary’s School has been severely disrupted by COVID19 and adjustments have been made to reporting requirements to reflect this.  The SCSA website has more information around this for parents and caregivers at:  https://www.scsa.wa.edu.au/curriculum-assessment-covid-19/for-parents-and-the-community

The Semester One report:

·   will include information about the general learning progress of students to date.

·   does not require reporting student achievement using a five-point scale (A, B, C, D, E or an equivalent)

·   should include information regarding affective domains

·   should demonstrate a students’ performance in relation to their peers

Teachers at St Mary’s School have been working hard to prepare the students’ reports and these will go home with the children on Monday, 29 June.

Social Media

St Mary’s School is now on Instagram.  You will need to download the Instagram app if you do not already have it.  You can either search St Mary’s School Merredin or use our handle @stmarysschoolmerredin to see what we have been getting up to at school!  Make sure that you like the posts and share these with family and friends so that they too can see the great things we get up to at St Mary’s School.

Back Car Park

If you have used the back car-park this week you would have noticed that it has had a face lift.  Thanks to the School Board Building and Maintenance Sub-Committee (Brad Atkinson and Wade Roberts) and All Round Maintenance Merredin for all their hard work and efforts to make this happen.  The pedestrian crossing has been moved and there is enough space for two cars to pick up/drop off at the same time.  Hopefully, it will not be as muddy as usual once the wet weather arrives!

Playground

The playgrounds re-opened this week for students to use during recess and lunchtime. They are cleaned each afternoon ready for the following day, so if you could please refrain from letting children use them after school it would be greatly appreciated.

LifeLink Day - Monday 15th June

Please wear your favourite scarf and beanie on Monday. Bring a gold coin donation with all proceeds going to LifeLink.

Welcome

We welcome the Crees family to the St Mary’s community.  Harry started in Pre-Kindy on Monday.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families,

Ms Adriana Coniglio
