Lismore South Public School Newsletter

Week 2 Term 3

Principal Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Today all students enjoyed our special Project Based Learning opening event with a sideshow alley filled with a variety of games. It was wonderful to see our Learning Support Officers and the SRC leading the activities and everyone having so much fun together. Our senior students were terrific leaders for our younger students. This event introduced students to designing games for specific purposes. We look forward to sharing the STEM learning journey with you in future newsletters.

The annual state-wide celebration of NSW public education will go ahead in Week 3 (August 3rd – August 7th). The theme this year is ‘Learning Together’. As we are unable to invite parents into our school this year, we will be creating a series of videos which parents will be able to view, showcasing some of the incredible learning and achievements of our students and staff.

As part of the NSW public school celebrations, a one-hour Zoom webinar has been scheduled for Thursday 6th August at 7pm, which has been specifically created to give parents and carers a working understanding of the technology most commonly used in NSW public schools. You can find more information here. The webinar looks very worthwhile for parents and carers.

Kind regards,

Larissa Polak

Ngulliboo Jarjums Preschool News

Thank You!

Before the end of Term 2 we put out a call for community helpers to help us sew our new tablecloths. We'd like to say a big THANK YOU to the lovely Helene (one of our parents) and Veronica Rapmund (known by the children as 'Granny') who both volunteered their time to make the tablecloths to ensure that our preschool is warm and inviting. The children love the new additions and so do we.

This week at preschool

Our Goanna group settled back into Term 3 beautifully. It has been lovely to see the children reconnecting after the holidays. We have had a special interest in construction and developing rich play through teamwork, problem solving, imagination, experimenting, and demonstrating knowledge of the real world. As we continue to explore our five senses, this week we looked at pumpkins and roasted seeds for everyone to try. We read "Whoever You Are" and are learning about children all over the world who may not look the same but are alike.

Term 3 Preschool Calendar

Although we are limited in having external guests to visit preschool we still have a wonderful term of learning planned. Please view the link below to see what is happening at Preschool this term.
