Heathcote Public School
School Uniform
Having students come to school each day in the correct school uniform is something that Heathcote PS prides itself on. Generally, most of our students do wear the correct uniform, but we are starting to see some hats, socks and jumpers that are not school uniform. A reminder that we ask students to wear the school hat, boys should wear grey socks, girls should wear white socks and the school jumper or jacket should be worn on cooler days. If students wish to wear a ribbon, scrunchie or head band in their hair, it should be in the school colours of navy blue, light blue or white.
Engadine Zone Swimming Carnival
We are looking forward to the Engadine Zone Swimming Carnival tomorrow at Engadine Leisure Centre. Students who perform well at this carnival will be eligible to represent Engadine Zone at the Sydney East Regional Swimming Carnival on Tuesday 19 March. Go Heathcote!
Kindergarten and New Parents Lunch
We look forward to meeting you at our Kindergarten new parents lunch at the Heathcote Hotel on Wednesday 13 March at 1:00pm. You are welcome to bring younger children.
This occasion is a great opportunity to talk to other parents whose children are new to our school. Representatives from the P&C will also be there.
School Photos
A reminder that School photos will take place on Wednesday 20 March. A note has been sent home with your child.
There are two options available for parents to order either by cash or online payments with the unique online code.
Last week we had a visit from representatives from the Sharks NRL team to discuss wellbeing and living a healthy lifestyle.

By the Light of the Moon
The school has been given the opportunity to have Opera Australia perform "by the Light of the Moon" at our school. This programme has been touring for over twenty years and has provided first time access to opera to over one million students.
The opera will take place on Thursday 14 March.
Please return your permission notes by 5 March.
There have been a few cases of worms reported to the school. Now might be a good time to treat the family with a de-worming treatment available at the chemist.
I hope everyone has a fantastic fortnight!

Principal

All students are encouraged to participate. The challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure. Students experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge for students to read, to read more and to read more widely. The 2019 challenge will open on 4 March 2019. It is on this date that the students will be able to begin their reading log online. Until then students are able to keep a record of books that they are reading now. The challenge must be completed by 30 August 2019.
To enter books online for Public School Students
A link to the Premier’s Reading Challenge website can be found in the Student Portal under the Learning section. Students are also able to add a link to the PRC in the My Link List section to make the PRC easier to find. The URL to use is http://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc.
Students can also log in directly to the PRC website using their Department of Education (DoE) username and password. These are the same details a student would use to access the Student Portal and the computer network at school. If you are unaware of your username and/or password, please contact your class teacher and ask for your Student Portal username and/or password.

Thank you so much to everyone who has offered their time so far for our term one activities! We now have enough volunteers for the Easter Disco, however we are still looking for volunteers to assist with the Election Day BBQ on 23 March and a couple more for the Cross Country BBQ on 3 April.
A note will be coming home with Easter Raffle tickets which we are seeking donations of Easter Eggs for prizes. Donations can be placed in the tub in the office prior to 4 April in preparation for our awesome wrappers to get wrapping. Thank you to the amazing Jen Askew for stamping & stapling over 2000 raffle tickets and all those who offered help.
We are looking forward to releasing the draft fundraising proposal and a survey shortly. Your time would be greatly appreciated to review so that we can gain feedback from the school community on fundraising activities and how you think we could spend funds raised in the school…watch this space!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Rebecca Bussell or join us at the P&C meeting on 19 March.

Over the past few years we have discussed at HOOSH and P&C meetings offering a direct debit system for our fees. I can confirm that at the P&C meeting last week it was decided and voted that the HOOSH service will be introducing a direct debit system for all fees. We hope to have this facility available to families by Term 3. More information will be emailed to all families soon.
Children who attend Aurora Dance school can we please ask that you update and sign a new permission slip to allow us to take your child up to classes and pick up if required.
In the HOOSH room we have a new notice area which includes important information, weekly calendar and copies of the updated plans for the new HOOSH building. Feel free to check it out. On this table there is also updated emergency contact details - it’s important we have the most up to date information in the case of an emergency so please complete one for your family.
Please note that all mornings and afternoons are full but as always if you require emergency casual care, please contact Alana on 0437 001 753 or email hoosh@live.com.au for more information.
Just a reminder that if your child is away sick or have travel plans during school term which coincide with the day's your child attends HOOSH, would you please let us know when you advise the school.
