Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

NAPLAN

Our Years 3 and 5 students are finalising their NAPLAN assessments this week.  It has been great to see our students approach NAPLAN with a can-do attitude and I know they all gave 100% to the assessments. Well done Year 3 and 5 students.  Thank you to Mr Newton and Mrs Kime for coordinating the assessments and ensuring everything ran smoothly.

Vote At Our School!

A reminder that you can vote at our beautiful school for the Federal Election between the hours of 8am and 6pm this Saturday.

We Need Your Help!

Our P&C will be running a cake stall and BBQ on election day, so we would love any donations of cakes or slices, as well as volunteers to assist on the BBQ. Please note that any homemade products require a list of ingredients on them. If you can help us out for a bit on Saturday, please let us know by clicking on the link below.

ZAYNE

"Hello! My name is Zayne and I have two big brothers who both come to this school. I also have a big sister. I have four dogs at home, their names are River, Skye, Beau and Jasmine.

At school, I like the magnet game. I like reading groups and I like playing with Mason.

At home, I like to jump on my trampoline with my brothers and sister.

When I grow up I would like to be a You Tuber."

Amazing Artists

Last year, Years 1 and 2 were involved in a “Literartry” competition as part of the Volvo Ocean Lovers Festival. Following this, our school was selected as a finalist and informed that our artworks would be on display in Bondi for the weekend of the festival. Out of 28 finalists, local artists Merran Hughes of Blue World and Marina Debris, picked Tomerong Public School as the overall winner. The inaugural Valerie Taylor Ocean Protection Prize awarded Tomerong Public School with $750 in prize money as well as prize packs from Australian Geographic and Jack the Super Prawn books. Congratulations to all the Years 1 and 2 students who were involved! Please click here to view all the amazing artworks featured at the festival.

School Gymnastics

School Gymnastics will be attending our school again this Thursday to provide our students with a specialist gymnastics program.

The children enjoyed progressing through a range of new movements and techniques. These skills will develop students’ overall fitness, core strength, flexibility and spatial awareness. The program will run for 7 weeks. The cost of the program is $2.50 per week, or you can pay the total amount $17.50 as a lump sum.

Thanks again to our wonderful P&C for subsidising the program and reducing the cost to students.

The P&C will be holding a fund-raising BBQ and cake stall on election day this Saturday 21 May. The funds raised will help subsidise future programs for our kids (like gymnastics). So please, please help us help you!! We need volunteers on the day to help cook, butter, take payment (whatever your speciality is) for as little or as long as you can. We also need donations of cupcakes and whole cakes with listed ingredients. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you to those who have already said they can volunteer and/or offered some baked goods to sell. If there are any other volunteers who would like to help on the day, no matter how big or small, please complete this survey monkey.

Second-Hand Uniform Pool

Do you need uniforms for your child? Check out our second-hand uniform pool first! You can ask one of the lovely ladies in the office to access the uniform pool and have a look through for yourself. If you find any clothes suitable, it is just a gold coin donation per item. What a bargain!!

Alternatively, if you have uniforms sitting at home that your child has outgrown (and are still in good condition), you are welcome to drop them off at the office to add to the second-hand uniform pool.
