Letter from the Acting Principal

Our school community is very fortunate to have so many of our parents who are willing to share their skills and help us out.

A very big thank you to Chris (Charlie’s Dad), Nelson (Nathan’s Dad) and Lionel (Eli’s Dad) for spending last Saturday removing the whiteboards and patching the plaster in our portables.

I would also like to thank our parents who have helped to support our School Production “Star Warts” by providing and creating  props and also designing and sewing costumes. The excitement is building as we get closer to our big Performance and I know our students are looking forward to sharing their amazing talent with you!

Tickets will be available for family members and friends from Monday August 8th and will be available online through eticks.com. (changed from the Saturday as previously advised, at the request of eticks who work Monday to Friday).  Seating is allocated and as the theatre has a capacity of 900, we have imposed a limit of 10 tickets per family. Tickets will cost $20 each, with a reduced price of $10 each for children under 5.

NB.12 months and under are free of charge when sitting on a parent’s knee and not requiring a seat of their own (to comply with Fire Safety regulations).

We have organised for the Production to be recorded and the details are below:

Help Needed

Phil (Olivia’s Dad) has volunteered to paint the interior of the portables on Saturday 6th August and it would be great if we could have a couple more people to help him .  If you are available to assist him on this day that would be greatly appreciated.

Please email me at udecorrado@sjferntreegully.catholic.edu.au if you are able to help.

First Aid Training

Our staff are continually updating their skills in a range of areas to ensure that we are current practitioners.  An important part of our ongoing training is First Aid qualifications.  All staff will be completing their Level 2 First Aid Training as part of the agenda for our School Closure Day on  August 9th.  I appreciate our staff’s commitment to their learning to ensure the safety of the children in our care.

Don't forget the School Disco this Friday! Parents are welcome to come to the 5/6 area for a cuppa and mingle while the kids dance away.

Upcoming Events

Lots covered in our P&F meeting last night.  Our upcoming events are in the calendar for the coming weeks.

We have a Father's Day Stall on Tuesday August 30th and we will be trialling a pre-bought token system so we can make sure all the children get the opportunity to purchase for all the special men in their lives.

Tokens will be for sale the weeks leading up to the stall and will be given to the children on the morning as they line up to shop. We would encourage families to collect some shopping/gift bags for the day to send with their children.  More information to follow.

Father's Day Breakfast will be Thursday September 1st.

We have a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on Saturday September 3rd (the day after production) and will be posting a volunteer roster in a week or two.  We would be so grateful for your help on the day.

Winery Tour - unfortunately this year we will be unable to run the winery tour due to increased transportation costs and the reluctance of some venues to entertain large groups at their cellar doors.  We instead are going to hold a trivia night event on the same date - Saturday October 15th. The night will be held in the school hall for parents to come along and have a great night. More details to follow.
