As we come to the end of Term 3, it is very easy to reflect on the good work that has been achieved by the students and staff at St Andrew’s.
Professional Learning is a big feature at St Andrew’s. Each Wednesday the staff gather to continue their learning journey in unpacking good and effective pedagogical teaching.
The focus this term has been embedding vital learning disposition relating to cognition, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills to ensure all studetns have the tools to learn. As well as this foundational platform, the teachers are continuing to refine the strategies needed for Inquiry Learning.
We have very clear priorities at St Andrew’s. Firstly the safety and well being of all our community and secondly to promote a culture of providing effective learning opportunities so every child can achieve success.
This is very evident in our latest NAPLAN results. The students excelled in all areas of Literacy- Reading, Grammar, Language Conventions and Writing. The students performed solidly in Numeracy as well. This affirms that our learning direction has made an impact to student learning.
The leadership team have been unpacking a variety of data sets to determine our future goals for 2020. The data has been very pleasing and we will publish these goals in the coming term.
I encourage all children to continue to read every day over the holiday period and continue to experience a variety of excursions to promote a wider vocabulary. You may like to take your child to the zoo or the beach or the theatre and talk about what they saw, felt, smelled and touched. This is a great way to generate discussion.

Issues with the school newsletter
In recent weeks, the school newsletter has had a revamp via the use of a new platform.
There have been a few glitches with this new platform and we are working with CEDP to assist in rectifying it. The main issue is the ‘alert to families’ when the newsletter has been issued.
I ask that families please refer to our Facebook page or our website to check if the newsletter has been released. This issue should be rectified soon.
Ms McDonald on Leave
Ms McDonald will be on Leave the first two weeks of Term 4. We look forward to her return in Week 3.
Student Lost Property
Over the break, can I please ask parents to lable their child’s belongings. We have a crate full of lost items that can not be returned to students as they are not labled.
Parent Calendar
The parent calendar for Term 4 is attached to this newsletter. Please mark important dates in your diary. As you are aware, sometimes changes to events may occur due to unforeseen circumstances. Please refer to the website for up to date information.
Leaving St Andrew’s ?
If you plan to leave St Andrew’s in 2020, please inform the office in writing at your earliest convenience. The school requires at least a term’s notice so that you will not be billed for the upcoming term.

We are at the business end of Enrolments for 2020. We have limited spaces available in grades 1-6. If you or you know a family who would like to attend, please lodge an application ASAP.
Have a wonderful break
