Rozelle is a place where Aboriginal children learned, played and celebrated their culture for thousands of years on this beautiful, natural land. As we learn, play and celebrate together on this land, we honour the Wangal people of the Eora nation and pay our respects to elders both past, present and emerging.
The term has got off to a flying start and it was great to see everyone return from holidays - especially Ms Carol Sheppad. Over the past fortnight, students have engaged with learning programs including reading and numeracy check in assessments for Years 3, 4, & 5. These online assessments provide teachers with valuable feedback on student achievement which they can respond to this term.
When everyone returned this term the main building was surrounded in scaffolding as part of the roofing replacement project. Staff and students have been very quick to adapt to the changes and it was pleasing to see the impact on playground space was minimal. Let's hope that the weather improves and the roofers can get started.

COVID - CHANGES TO ISOLATION REQUIREMENTS
On 30 September, the National Cabinet announced that from Friday 14 October 2022, people who test positive to COVID-19 no longer need to isolate. Although this is a significant change, the key message that 'staff and students should continue to stay at home when sick’, remains the same. To maintain community health and minimise transition it's important we take a common sense approach. This includes:
If your child has been exposed to COVID-19 it is recommended that you monitor for symptoms and test if you have any concerns.
Students should not attend school while they are unwell and only return when symptom free.
If your child tests positive the school must be informed.
Should you wish your child to wear a mask, they will be supported by staff.
The school can provide families with additional RAT ktis. These are available on request.
I would like to thank you again for your ongoing support to keep our students, staff and community safe and healthy.
END OF YEAR - CHANGE OF DATE
At the start of this term the Department of Education revised the date for the final day of the school year. The final day for students is Friday 16 December and will include the Leavers’ Assembly and Archway. Staff will return on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 December for two days of professional learning and preparations for the following year.
KINDERGARTEN 2023 UPDATE
The school is looking forward to welcoming a new cohort of Kindergarten students in 2023. Last week Sepfora and Team Kindy ran an information evening for new families which was very well attended. Thank you to those parents who came along.
As part of the school’s transition pack, a picture book was created, published and shared with families. It is hoped that this book will be read many times before the new school year begins. This video was sent in by one of our families. Enjoy watching James and his younger sister Emmie, read about a day at Rozelle Public School.
Kindy Video LinkLater on this term, our new families will visit the school to meet staff and organised uniforms. Exciting time ahead!

BASKETBALL COURT UPGRADE
The long awaited basketball court upgrade is finally happening. This week I met with the Department of Education Assets Team who will manage the project. The tender has been awarded and the work will be carried out during the summer holiday period. All going to plan, students will return in 2023 to an upgraded court with new hoops. The project was delayed due to COVID related staffing issues and the extreme weather events that caused damage across the state’s schools. I am very pleased that there is now a planned schedule of works which includes a completion date.
RETURNING TO RPS IN 2023
Is your child(ren) returning to Rozelle PS in 2023? To help with essential planning we request all families complete this short survey. All responses will be kept confidential with only school executives accessing responses.
You will need to complete the survey for each of your children. For example if you have three children it will need to be completed three times. For our current preschool and Year Six families there is no need to respond.
