Rawlinson Primary School News

No. 11 - 28th April 2022

PRINCIPAL'S NEWS

Welcome back to Term 2 everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing break with family and friends.  With the soon to be, relaxing of Covid restrictions, we will all be able to resume our normal activities, which will be fantastic.  I want to thank all parents, carers, staff and students, for the wonderful way in which you supported Rawlinson Primary to continue to deliver the best possible education we could, during this difficult time.

I’m sure you are all looking forward to participating more in school activities and seeing the great things your children are doing at school.  The following information has been given to schools for consideration:

As you may be aware, public health and social measures have been eased for schools for Term 2, details at wa.gov.au. We continue to follow the current health advice and I am writing to let you know what the changes mean for our school.

We are pleased to advise that parents/carers are allowed on school sites in Term 2 for the following purposes:

o   to attend year group assemblies

o   to attend face to face parent/teacher meetings

o   to attend indoor and outdoor sporting events, infrequent special events, performances and other interschool events with masks and physical distancing

o   to attend face to face meeting e.g. P&C and school board/council meetings

o   to volunteer in roles outside of the classroom, including the canteen and uniform shop

o   drop-off/pick up outside of classrooms

o   visit their children in residential facilities, with proof of vaccination (if required).

Parents/carers attending school sites must wear masks on school grounds and adhere to physical distancing, where possible. Please note parents/carers are not allowed inside classrooms.

A number of school activities can resume, including infrequent special events, and we will provide more detail on these in Term 2.

Please note you do not need to report COVID-19 positive cases to the school during the school holidays. However, all positive RATs must be reported to WA Health via www.healthywa.wa.gov.au/ratregister

At this stage we will not be having year group assemblies, but look forward to having you back on school grounds for drop off and pick up and parent meetings.

This term will see us participating in NAPLAN for year 3 and 5, various transition activities for year 5 and 6 students, getting ready for the Athletics Carnival and reporting.

We look forward to a more stable Term 2.

Cheers,

Mrs Jo-Anne Large

Principal.

Free Dress Day

Thank you to everyone who helped their child come to school in Free Dress on Wednesday 6th April.

It was great to see lots of excited kids, with smiles on faces, talking about what they were wearing.

We managed to raise $424 for the Lions Cancer Institute's “Special Children’s Big Day Out”, which is an amazing effort!

Thank you and well done everyone!

COMMUNITY NEWS

Fostering Children

Children require a safe place to live.  At times, for a variety of reasons, living with family is not the safest option for all children.  Department of Communities, Mirrabooka District, is seeking motivated, caring and nurturing adults who may be willing to attend a local information session to hear about becoming a foster carer.  Foster carers often tell us that making the decision to help vulnerable children and young people and providing them with a loving home has been one of the best decisions they have ever made.  There are a number of foster care options available.  Some are long term, full-time arrangements while other foster carers provide support for short term or short break placements.  Foster carers come from all walks of life.  You may be single, partnered or married, with or without your own children.  As a foster carer, you would be supported by a dedicated Placement Officer.
