Year 6 Commemorative Tops

Congratulations to our Year 6 Commemorative Tops Design Team. We all think that this years tops look amazing!

The team met and designed the tops at the end of 2021 and we purchased the polo tops that the Year 6s have been wearing all year. Our fleece tops took a little longer than we had hoped, but the Year 6s have all quickly put them on and commented on how warm they feel and how proud they are to wear them.

Each year a group of students are randomly selected to work together to design a top that represents their cohort. Part of the criteria being that the tops need to be as unique as the group of Year 6s that are about to wear them. The team then work with companies to discuss their graphic and how it will look on a top, as well as other features of the tops.

We are really proud of how well this team collaborated, shared ideas and worked towards the final products. As you can see the tops all look amazing!

Thank You

Last Saturday our school grounds were a buzzing hive of activity thanks to our Grounds Committee's Working Bee. The committee kept the volunteers buzzy with the list of jobs to be completed by volunteers as well as a sweet as honey morning tea.

As you can see in the photos below, in a few hours this small group managed to tidy our school grounds,  plant some trees and shrubs, prune our citrus trees, construct and install 5 new raised garden beds and fill them with soil as well as mulching.

We appreciate their efforts.. Hive-fives to you all!

Bee-utiful Work!

Materials and Services Charges -$100 discount!

As you may be aware the Government made a commitment to give South Australian families with school-age children a $100 discount on their public school’s Materials and Services Charge for each child for the next two school years (2022 and 2023).

Dernancourt School staff have applied the credit notes for 2022 to all the accounts this week.

The refund specifically relates to the Materials and Services Charge. If you have outstanding fees, the credit must be applied to them in the first instance. School card families who have outstanding fees and are waiting for their application to be approved cannot utilize the credit until a final outcome from School Card is received. If families are eligible for School Card the credit does not apply and will be cancelled.

If you have already paid your school fees for this year, your balance will be in credit. The credit maybe used for other expenses incurred throughout the year including  incursions, excursions, camps etc. Over the coming week you will receive a hard copy of your balance with this information, if you would like the credit transferred to your bank account, please complete the tear off slip and return it to school. We will then do our best to refund families as soon as possible. Please be careful to enter your banking information accurately.

Once you have your hard copy, if you would like to clarify anything please speak to our Business Manager Lisa.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)

Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).

Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:

• year of schooling

• category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional

• level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.

This information assists schools to:

• formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools

• consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools

• develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.

The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy)

Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).

If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.
