Dear Parents/Carers
Term 3 is now well underway and it has been pleasing to see how settled and focussed our students are this term. I have enjoyed visiting classrooms through the week and seeing our students so engaged in their learning.
Next week is Education Week in NSW Public Schools with this year’s theme being ‘Learning Together’. With the effect of COVID-19 during 2020 there has been unprecedented changes to how our schools operate and how our students have undertaken their learning. Schools always greatly value their partnership with parents and community and in 2020 this partnership entered a new chapter with online learning happening in homes across NSW. At Lithgow Public School, we have greatly valued our community’s support, patience and shared commitment to support all of our students. Likewise, we have greatly valued our student’s commitment to learning, resilience and enthusiasm through these challenging times.
This year for Education Week our classes will be preparing videos to thank our community for their support. These will be shared through both the Seesaw app and also the school Facebook page. Our school leaders will also be presenting awards to students through the week. We look forward to celebrating Education Week with our community next week!
In the last 2 weeks our classes have also begun implementing the ‘Second Step’ program across K-6. This program teaches a range of socio and emotional regulation strategies to students as a part of our school-wide wellbeing program. Our Stage groups will be sharing these lessons, as well as home activities, through the Seesaw app. Please take the time to discuss these with your children and complete any home activities to assist us in supporting all students in our school.
As you are aware, in recent weeks there have been increased cases of COVID-19 across NSW. Lithgow Public School continues to have a range of measures in place to support the health and hygiene of our students and staff, which include regular cleaning throughout the school day, social distancing measures and limited access from visitors to the school. As always, we thank our community for your ongoing support of these measures.
Mr Davies will also be back from leave next week.
Have a great weekend everyone!
