Principal's Message

Dear Families,

The Regional Swim Carnival in Shepparton was a great success yesterday.  Jen Driessen took our MPS swimmers with her and they all did a fantastic job.  Thank you Jen for supporting the kids and well done to all our swimmers.  A special mention to Kezi Wolfe, Taj Walker and Jarrah Jackson who will all be representing Mansfield Primary School at the State Championships in Melbourne.

International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is Tuesday 8th March.  The aim is to celebrate women’s achievement, raise awareness against bias and take action for equality.  So, to all our girls, female staff, mums, aunties, grandmas, female carers and community members, Happy International Women’s Day.

Preps and Their Siblings

About this time each year our teachers have conversations with the siblings of our Prep students about giving the Preps some space to play with their Prep friends.  Older siblings do a great job at looking out for their younger brothers or sisters but after a few weeks of settling into school the Preps are finding their feet and benefit from some space to play with their friends.  If you have any questions around this, please speak to your classroom teacher.

3 Way Conferences – Students, Parents and Teachers.

Our conferences will take place during Week 9 (21st March – 25th March).  Thank you to all the families who responded to our survey; most families would like to meet in person.  This makes sense after the last couple of interrupted years.

Each class will have a few places available for families to meet with teachers via Webex.  Booking details will be sent to families next week.

Help Seeking

This week classroom teachers are speaking to students about the benefits of seeking help with issues in the yard or in the classroom.  Kids are not expected to be able to sort out every issue they come across, they are learning about relationships and sometimes need support.  At school they can seek help from a teacher on yard duty, their classroom teacher, another adult at school who they trust or they can come and knock on my door.  If your child comes home and needs to discuss an issue with you, please contact their teacher, Nicole Salmon nicole.comerford@education.vic.gov.au or me tom.macmunn@education.vic.gov.au.  That way we can all work together.

New Families Pizza Night - Wednesday March 16th.

The New Families Pizza Night is a great chance for new families to meet each other as well as some of our staff.  If you are new to MPS in 2022 please come to the Shade Tree at 5:30pm on Wednesday March 16th and join us for some pizza and a chat.  Bring a chair, snacks and (non-alcoholic) drinks.

The Resilience Project

Mansfield Primary School, and other schools in the Mansfield Shire, has teamed up with The Resilience Project to help us provide evidence-based, practical strategies to build resilience.  Over the coming weeks we will be sharing the Parent and Carer Program with you.  Please see parent and community flyer attached. The Resilience Project has had to make the parent/carer presentation via Zoom as well as change the date.  The presentation will now be on Wednesday 23rd March from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.

Please register for the Parent/ Community presentation using the following registration link:-
