Easter Parade

The 2022 K-6 Easter Hat Parade will take place on Thursday 7 April at 9.15am under the COLA. Students from Kindergarten to Year 4 will be making and decorating a hat at school to model during the parade. Years 5 and 6 will be sporting crazy hair, with an Easter theme where possible, which they are required to create at home on the morning of the parade.

There will also be an Easter Raffle run by the P&C with tickets being sold prior to the parade. The winners will be drawn at the completion of the event. The P&C will send home more information closer to the date.

We encourage parents, caregivers, family and friends to join us in a COVID safe manner on the day as the students parade their creations. If you or a family member are symptomatic, we ask that you do not attend the Easter Hat Parade in the best interest of our staff and students. We will be sure to take plenty of photos to share on Facebook after the event!

We look forward to a great morning.

School Photographs

All students should have now received their individual ‘shootkey’ for ordering school photos. Photo days are Week 9, Thursday 31 March and Friday 1 April. Due to the health restrictions K-2 will be on the Thursday with scheduled family photos while on Friday Years 3-6 will participate in their photos. All students will be required to wear full summer school uniform.

The tentative timetable is attached; however, times are extremely flexible. Please keep your child at home if they are sick, we cannot change photos to accommodate various situations.

PBL Report

Bateau Bay Public School we follow the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework which involves tracking behaviour through recording 'mentions'. In the first 5 weeks of Term 1, we have had 94% of students receive only one mention or less! Congratulations to all students for a positive start to the 2022 schooling year. A reminder that next week we will have PBL rewards day. Make sure to return permissions slips to classroom teachers and keep an eye out on our Facebook page to see students celebrating their success this term. PBL learning highlightsAs part of our PBL framework students are involved in the explicit teaching and practice of PBL expectations. In week 7, teachers taught and students practiced the Stop, Walk, Talk strategy. Students are encouraged to recognise their emotions and are given strategies to resolve conflict in the classroom and on the playground to avoid escalation in behaviour. In week 8, students were welcomed back into the COLA for assesmblies and morning play, therefore, teachers have been explicitly teaching the expectations in the COLA. Students have been practicing walking on hard surfaces, having the right voice level and playing the right way. Well done everyone!

Cross Country Carnival 2022

The Bateau Bay Public School Cross Country Carnival will be held on Friday 8 April (last day of Term 1), with a back-up date of Friday 29 April. All students who are 8 years or older this year are invited to participate. The event will take place within the school grounds and around the perimeter of the school. The school cross-country will be closely followed by the Tuggerah Lakes Zone Cross Country Carnival, scheduled to take place on Friday 13 May 2022. Any students placing in the top 8 of their age group at the school carnival will be invited to attend the zone carnival.

Students are required to bring their wide-brimmed school hat, sunscreen, a drink bottle, and their asthma puffer if required when running. Students can opt to run with or without their hat and drink bottle, however they will be required to wear their hat while spectating. Students will also require a spare pair of shoes and towel to sit on if conditions are wet or muddy.

Parents and families may attend the carnival and cheer the students on. Parents will need to comply with the school’s COVID requirements and adhere to physical distancing (1.5m) and hygiene measures at all times. There will be a designated area for parents and families under the shade of the trees in the bark chip area. Please be advised that throughout the duration of the cross country carnival, students are to stay in the student area under teacher supervision. Students will have the opportunity to visit their parents and families during lunch.

If the carnival is in doubt due to bad weather, please check the Skoolbag app or Facebook for messages on the morning of the carnival.
