Dear Parents
As you would be aware Mrs Burley [Vella] and Mrs Matthews have finished for the year and are now on maternity leave. Congratulations to Mr ad Mrs Matthews on the birth of their daughter Kayla Grace on Sunday 15 September. Mrs Burley and her husband are now awaiting the pending birth of their first child. In their absence for the remainder of 2019, we welcome Mrs Bev Hermans who will join Miss Ford in Year two and Miss Alley Casey who will be teaching alongside Mrs Searson Year 1. We look forward to welcoming these ladies into our community for term 4.
Last Wednesday evening our Wakakirri Troupe performed at the NSW state finals. What a great experience for our children. These very talented students performed before a capacity audience up against the “pick of the crop” in division one of this national competition. Our 2019 troupe were great ambassadors for our school and their families and need to be congratulated for the commitment and passion they have put into rehearsing and performing over the last six months. A special thanks goes to our Wakakirri director Mrs Kelly-Hoskings whose expertise and drive produced a great production of The Sloth Who Came to Stay. Our gratitude needs to be extended also to the Wakakarri team consisting of a band of hardworking and dedicated teachers and parents who worked as a unit for many months to ensure the success of this production. Congratulations and thank you to all concerned!
On Tuesday evening we had a meeting to discuss the viability of having a Spring Fair. Though the attendance was not great, I am interested to hear from members of the school and parish who are interested in taking on an organizational role for the school. If you are interested or would like to know about the various organizational roles, please contact me via email ahughes@oparra.catholic.edu.au. Thanks
Congratulations to Olivia Kaddis on the winning of the Social Justice award for her speech on “Organ Transplants”. Olivia’s performance of her speech was delivered with poise and confidence on Tuesday at the Diocesan Voice of Youth Grand Final.
As the term draws to a close, thank you to all members of our school community who have contributed to the success of the last ten weeks. We have had many successes to celebrate, academically, on the sporting field and stage and socially with several community events bringing families together as a school. Thank you also to all our CTK staff for their commitment and efforts throughout the term. Your hours of preparation and dedication to improving the Learning of your students is appreciated by all members of our community. Our community’s contributions have greatly enhanced our school environment where all our students have the right and opportunity to be safe, happy and to learn. Enjoy the break with your children and the beautiful spring weather that characterizes this time of the year. Happy holidays!
