Below is a repeat of the updated guidelines during COVID-19 which was sent home yesterday. Please take the time to read this information if you haven't already.
This week the NSW Department of Education released updated guidelines about safe operations during COVID-19.
There are some important changes that we all need to be aware of, as outlined below:
COVID Testing for all students who are either absent or sent home due to COVID-like symptoms
As a new Departmental requirement, if a student or staff member is absent from school with COVID-like symptoms they will be required to undergo a COVID test. They will be able to return to school when the school is provided with a copy of their negative test result and they are symptom free.
The same will apply if students are sent home from school with COVID-like symptoms. Please click the link below for information on symptoms and testing.
No Entry to School Grounds
Entry to school grounds is now prohibited for parents and caregivers unless prior approval is given by the Principal. We realise how important regular communication is between parents and teachers, so please use one of the avenues below to make contact, or call the school on 4443 4376.
We have found Class Dojo to be a quick and effective communication tool and teachers will be checking this daily for messages. Alternatively, please see the teacher’s email addresses below.

Asking parents not to be in our school grounds obviously goes against the ethos of our school, although at this period of time, we are requesting parents make non-face to face contact when liaising with their child’s teacher rather than dropping in to see them.
In most instances, a Class Dojo message, email or phone call will suffice, however, if a face to face meeting is required it can be organised after engaging through one of the above communication methods.
All visits to the school is to be via the office and visitors are required to complete a declaration form upon arrival. The only exception to this are parents and carers who:
-Are presenting to the office to sign a student in or out.
-Are dropping off or collecting a child from Before and After School Care.
-Are picking their child up after the afternoon bell on the grassed area in front of the Library (those wishing to collect students from below the Amphitheatre are now asked to wait in the adjacent council parkland).
Pick Up and Drop Off Points
As of this afternoon, the drop off and collection points are as follows:
-Outside the gate at the front of the school on Hawken Road.
-On the opposite side of Hawken Road (a teacher will walk these students across the road following the afternoon bell).
-On the grassed area in front of the Library.
-In the parkland adjacent to the Amphitheatre with access via Church Street (please wait outside the gate).
Please do not walk through the school grounds to get to the collection point.
Placing Lunch Orders
Our canteen remains open for lunch orders each Tuesday and Friday, although as parents are not currently permitted in the school grounds, we are asking parents write their child’s name and order on a brown paper bag and send it to school with the money enclosed.
Thank you once again for your ongoing patience, understanding and support during this tricky time.
Check-in Assessment for Years 3 and 5
Year 3 and 5 students will participate in a new reading and numeracy check-in assessment in Term 3, 2020.
The check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online reading and numeracy assessment available to support schools to assess and monitor Year 3 and 5 student learning following the period of learning from home.
The check-in assessments can supplement existing school practices to identify how students are performing in Literacy and Numeracy and to help teachers tailor their teaching more specifically to student needs.
-The assessment for Year 5 students will be held next Tuesday, 25 and Friday 28 August.
-The assessment for Year 3 student will be later this term with dates being announced in coming weeks.
Students with a disability may receive the same level of support during the assessment that they would normally receive in the classroom.
Students will be asked to bring headphones or earbuds that plug into a computer to enable them to hear audio during the assessment. Earbuds used for mobile phones or other portable devices may be suitable for use during the assessment.
Have a great week,
Rod White
Principal
