Student Success:

Congratulations to our Year 5 students who participated in buddy training last week. Our buddies are no well prepared to work with the new kinder students and are looking forward to helping them adjust to school life. Well done, Year 5!

NAIDOC Week:

Next week we will be celebrating NAIDOC Week across the school. This year’s theme is ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’ which recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for our continent for over 65 000 years. Students will be engaged in activities in their classrooms during the week which will explore the Aboriginal culture.

Save the Dates:

Our Presentation Day will be held on Thursday 10th December. At this stage we don’t know exactly how it will proceed due to Covid restrictions, but it will go ahead in some form on 10th December. Our Year 6 Farewell will be held on Tuesday 8th December. Again, we are not sure of the final format, but it will be held on the 8th December.

Reports:

Our teachers are currently in the process of completing assessments and writing Semester 2 reports for students. This semester, reports will be sent out via the Sentral Parent Portal. Details of how to register to receive your child’s report will be sent home in a separate letter this week.

Colour Run:

The P&C Colour Run will be held on Thursday 19th November. Although delayed from the original date, we are very pleased this event will be going ahead. A note will be sent home with all of the details later this week. Please continue to collect sponsorship for the fundraiser.

Express Yourself Day:

This Thursday the P&C are holding an ‘Express Yourself’ out of uniform day. Students can come dressed in an outfit to express themselves. Please remember to wear covered in shoes and a hat.

Kinder Orientation:

Our Kinder Orientation sessions will begin on Tuesday 17th November. We are looking forward to meeting our new students for 2021! If you have any questions about the sessions, please contact the school office.

Crossing Supervisor:

I am pleased to announce that our crossing supervisor has started on our Mills St crossing each morning and afternoon. I am sure that this addition will help make our busy street safer for all of the students who walk to and from school.

Library News

Book Fair 2020

This year we will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair in Week 7 (23/11- 27/11).  Again, parents are unable to attend in person with their child(ren) but online orders and/or payments will be possible and students will be able to shop in person during that week.  More information will be sent out as soon as we receive it.

Looking Towards 2021

A quick reminder that all students will need a library borrowing bag again in 2021. The style of bag is entirely your choice but they are essential in keeping our books in good condition.

School Aerobics

A big thank-you to Miss Em for all of her time and effort teaching routines to our Aerobics girls.  It has been a difficult year to do this, but Miss Em has been flexible and shown up with a smile every week.  We appreciate everything you do!

Support Unit

All Support classes have been focusing on the topic of Halloween during literacy and art lessons. Students have been learning about the history of Halloween, while engaging in reading and listening to a variety of narratives and picture books.

All classes have focused on how to structure, draft and publish their own spooky stories. Some students have even published their own spooky story and combined to create their very own book. Keep an eye out in the library for our book, but be aware it is very scary!!

Warners Bay Oosh

Can you believe, three weeks already of the new WB OOSH !! On behalf of the new team, thanks to every one of the families to journey with us; new enrolment, change in CWA, CCS and all the admin required. We know it has been frustrating, but once in place, that's it for most of your primary school years :)

Pam, Bayley and Hannah have remained. Erica Smith joins as food/kitchen technician. Lucy, Mat, Maria, Isaac, Rosetta, Telena and Fallon will rotate - some have admin functions as educational leader and compliance. And of course Judy, Nominated Supervisor.

Bonus in the change is F O O D !! Just ask your children :) We have butter for toast !!! Whilst OOSH services are regulated to provide predominantly fresh fruit and veg, a wider menu variety is being added to the offerings such as yoghurts, bacon n egg muffins, blueberry muffins and a few experiments.

As we approach NAIDOC week, children will be engaged in a growing understanding of what is discrimination and cross-cultural activities. In NAIDOC week, OOSH will host an exhibit of didgeridoo, clapping stick and visual arts, from our children.

WB OOSH Vacation Care commences 17 December to 23rd; and 11 to 28 January. THIS IS NEW!! SO WELCOMED!! SO FOUGHT FOR!! Enrollment process will open from week 6-7 of term 4. A published Vacation Care Program will be available from week 8."
